I disagree. Asik, when playing starters minutes last season, was first in the league in RP48, second in RPG, second in OFF and first in total rebounds. He's one of the top defenders around the rim in the league. He has a great wingspan, he's an active and willing defender and played big minutes in the fastest pace offense in the league last season. A 7 footer that rebounds and plays defense like Asik is much harder to find than an offensively gifted, undersized PF, therefore, IMO, is a more valuable commodity. If Atlanta has any post season aspirations, they will get farther with an Asik - Horford front court than a Horford - Millsap front court. Atlanta is currently ranked 25th of 30 teams in rebounding, I think he definitely fills a glaring weakness for them.

I think the Rockets should threaten to sit Asik until his contract runs out. Tell his agent Les has deeper pockets than both of them and if they want Asik to get another payday then he will do his job.

End this players demanding trades nonsense. Every player that has done it before has been a star who teams offered more than bad contracts and a late first for. Jim Jackson is the only one who wasn't, but he was traded to the Hawks late in his career. Right when he arrived he told them he wanted to be traded somewhere where he could compete. They didn't sign him so it was a different situation.

Agreed. All of the basketball experts should learn some very basic forum usage rules and argue in a different thread.

I gotta be honest. As a Thunder fan, I hope the Lee/Bass/future #1 reports are true.

When your roster is deep, there are hoing to be some folks not content at the end of the bench, it is their career, nothing wrong with anyone asking for a trade.

I thought the interview that Clutch had with Dwight was kind of telling if you ask me in the sense about possible distractions. You could see he was trying to use the right words when describing how it can affect chemistry.

what exactly would that mean...to "reset" if no Asik deal is done today?

I would just sit if I were Asik. Asik knows at some point Morey doesn't like wasting assets. He has already call Morey's bluff.

For this very reason, it doesn't serve their own interests to sulk and play half askedly does it?

That's the point. He's our rookie. We traded picks and other assets to get him. Now he wants us to sell him for chips because he wants more minutes? He's our project. We drafted him. If he wants more minutes then he needs to hit the weight room. Our PF spot is wide open for the taking and he can't beat out a sophomore. What makes him think other teams will just give him minutes? His defense is a liability.

Just what we've been talking about. Just exit conversations until Feb 20th. Tell everybody we aren't trading him and exit talks. Give them 24 hours to get it together and make a deal come together, have Tellum and Asik go into a panic, Tellum buzzing all the GMs to get a deal done, and just sit and wait out the 24 hours.
