Army fires HC Rich Ellerson North Dakota State promotes Chris Klieman to HC FAU hires Arkansas DL coach Charlie Partridge as HC TCU hires Sonny Cumbie as QB coach
I was surprised to see Craig Bohl leave NDSU, but I think Klieman is a good hire there. That's not a program that needs new direction or an overhaul. They just need someone to keep from messing up what they have going. Continuity is the key for them. I'm interested to see what Diaco can do at UConn. He's been a big name for a few years now, but more and more programs are shying away from hiring hot coordinators and instead are focusing on coaches with head coaching experience, even if it's at a smaller program or lower division. He'll be another good litmus test for that.
Bowling Green hires Eastern Illinois HC Dino Babers to the same position Arkansas State hires North Carolina OC Blake Anderson as HC Texas A&M promotes Jake Spavital to OC Boise State hires Stanford QB coach Mike Sanford as OC Boise State hires Texas A&M co-DC/DB coach Marcel Yates as DC Washington hires Brent Pease as WR coach Stephen F. Austin hires Central Arkansas HC Clint Conque to the same position
Odd move. From one FCS school in the SLC to another FCS school in the SLC. Probably just hired him so they could finally beat Sam Houston, since UCA seems to do it every year...
I'm interested to see how Diaco does. The best part of him leaving ND is now we get to hear him talk -- Coach Kelly doesn't let his assistants talk to the media. And Diaco is a weird, weird guy... should make for some entertaining press conferences.
They need to let him stay. Lived in Omaha for nine years and so much b****ing when Solich and Callahan were there; Lincoln just might not be the coaching and recruiting draw it was in the late '90s.
This is something I've talked about a lot with a guy I work with that grew up in Nebraska. Many Nebraska fans still have the expectation that their program should be competing for national championships, but the reality is that what Pelini has done over the last few years might be the new "normal" for that program.
Looks like Louisville won't miss a beat (and may actually get an upgrade) in Bobby Petrino - at least until he leaves again.
Great hire assuming his baggage doesn't affect recruiting. Now its time for TAMU to visit the insane asylum/rehab center Billy Cylde Gillispie is in and rehire him.
Alabama's OC (Doug Nussemeier) accepted the same position at Michigan It looks like Lane Kiffin will be Bama's new OC....not sure how to feel about that....
It is likely a good-to-great hire. He's gonna recruit some of the entitled, pretty boy, surfer-quarterbacks from California that flame out in the NFL for y'all. You wont have to deal with the tattoo-chested, trailer park, rednecks and the schoolboy floppy SEC haircut anymore. Golden era for Alabama sports.
