Let's not let Morey off the hook. He set his own deadline. If Asik is not dealt for a servicable player, this is one is on Daryl Morey. Asik needs to go

 

Besides, if you trade Garcia, McHale will wind up in the hospital with brain cramps.

I'm not that surprised that we would go for Lee even with his contract.

We need a perimeter defender and Lee is also not a liability on offense. I also think Morey can flip him with a year left on his contract (in a couple of years) if we need to to clear space for a big time free agent. It might cost us a pick to sweeten it, but it will be worth it to sign a 3rd star player.

This is win-now mode Morey. Trades will have a different feel to them. Though I wouldn't bet against us getting two first round picks in this deal.

Hilarious how some of you think nobody would trade for Bass or Lee. If this trade goes through, we have 2 draft picks in this loaded 2014 draft! Teams DO want those and you need salary fillers to get good players back. Do you think Morey plans on keeping those picks? I sure as hell wouldn't bet any money on it. Lots of small thinkers on this damn board. In the meantime, Bass ad Lee would immediately upgrade our bench that has been looking quite inept as of late. Lin, Lee, Bass, and Casspi. The bench has been terrible ever since Asik got sand in has vag and stopped playing so don't even bring up it isn't as good as a bench with Asik anymore because that is a moot point.

I don't have the adjusted numbers for the first part of this season, but his raw +/- was -5.3, meaning Boston was 5.3 points better with him on the bench.

Given his salary ($6.9M next year), he is the kind of guy that Morey would normally demand a pick just to take off another team's hands.

how many minutes they play currently has nothing to do with how many they will play. How many does Asik play right now?

this move adds perimeter defense. it adds interior toughness, and the ability to open the lane by having a PF that hits an open jumper at all times of the game.

the worst part about this will be greg smith at C, but hes not terrible and gets better when he's in a rhythm of consistent playing time.


bass is one of the stronger PFs in the league. he can split minutes at center if need be.
