See, that's the point. Dwight+Bass was merely "OK." Dwight+ 3 point shooting Ryan Anderson (and before him, Rashard Lewis) was special.

We will be better off pairing Dwight with Casspi or Jones than we will letting Bass even touch the floor.

The Dwight signing seems to have blocked out people's memories. Do people remember all the useless assets and crappy picks that bounced around between trading McGrady and do trading for Harden? Think of the full list of Morey trades that occurred between those two bookends.

Morey specializes in trading tons of small assets in what appear to be lateral moves in what looks like churning, until he ends up owning the world. He's like that dude who started out with a paperclip, and many months later ended up trading for the deed to a house.

Also waiting out until 2015 free agency to use cap space would mean Parsons is gone.

Brandon Bass is just not a fitting return for Asik and not an asset we can flip come February. He is not worth the trouble of distracting the team with more trade rumors for 2 months.

If Houston is going with "contract filler + pick" in return for Asik, it's much better to just go with Hawes. I am not enamored with Hawes' skills, either, but at least 3 point shooting is something this team makes use of and his contract is expiring and easily flippable.

 

courtney lee is perfect for this team.. 3 and D, plus hes dwights friend.

So you are judging him off one game. Proves my point. He is a solid player, and plays great defense in PNR situations. There is a reason that Miami's defense is so good. They have flexible players at the 1-4 positions who can guard in all situations. This team will improve with Bass coming in. Just watch.
