I'm a big Fan of lee on this team. He would easily be better than Garcia. At certain points a Dwight, parsons, lee, harden, PG lineup would be pretty nice.

    But dat contract doh.

If we were serious suitors for a max guy, lees contract might be valued as an expiring in that last year. Could maybe move him to a fringe contender for a draft pick or something.

Bass and Lee...... their salaries could just kill Rockets.

NO way Morey would touch them.

I'm not believing the Bass + Lee for Asik angle.

Lee's contract is too expensive for what he does, and it is one year too long. Can't ruin the flexibility of Summer 2015 for Courtney frickin Lee.

Bass I could see the Rockets acquiring because he's a solid player, but he's hardly and good get. He's just ok.

There has to be more to it. Morey wouldn't do this.

I would take on Courtney Lee's contract if the Celtics swap Bass for Sullinger.

If this turns out to be Bass + Lee + a pick, then I will be disappointed...and I had low expectations.

Bass too small. Lee is not the same player and has too big of contract for too long. So that leaves the pick. meh...

    Bill Simmons is onboard

Good enough for an additional pick?

There is absolutely no cost for Morey to wait right up until his deadline, unless his best deal says "trade now or it is off", which I can't see. And if he waits, "the horse might learn to sing" and someone might blow him away with an offer.

If anything is completed between late afternoon tomorrow, I'll be shocked.

If it isn't completed tomorrow, though, I think GM's will sense chum in the water, and they'll try and "wait out" Morey with low ball offers, like a house that's been on the market too long, GM'S will imagine the Rockets screaming "uncle!" first, with discomfort of the unhappy Asik situation piling up.

And I would hold off if it's just Bass + Lee + a pick. There has to be someone more willing to cough up some better assets than that for a legit, tall, young starting C.

No there IS a reason. The next deadline is the reason.

Is Kevin or Daryl handling the negotiations with Boston? ;)

Courtney Lee - the same Lee he S&T to Boston 17 months ago? (This year at $5,225,000 and two years after at $5,450,000 & $5,675,000)

Brandon Bass (This year ($6,450,000) and next at $6,900,000)

    And a first round pick?

    Exactly.

We tend to lose sight of the fact that this trade was almost certainly not Morey's preference to make. From the beginning of the season, he was willing to try the TT experiment, and if that failed, to enjoy the luxury of having elite front court defense on the floor at any give time. Asik forced his hand. The 2014 trade deadline was where he wanted to be dealing.

Given that, it might be a letdown to anyone expecting a major talent haul at this time. Unless a great deal presents itself (talent-wise), Morey's goal is probably to convert Asik into assets that are serviceable over the next couple of months, and foremost, tradeable at the deadline.

I think he is aiming higher than Milsap. Otherwise, couldn't he have made a stronger push at in the offseason to acquire either Milsap or Smith? I think the general consensus at that point was that he had higher aims. I doubt that has changed.
