Lin and Asik's contract are identical in terms of implementation, structure and creation.

They are interchangeable for purposes of the cap and salary actually paid out.

    Cap Hit = $8.3M over 3 years
    Actual Salary = $5/$5/15M

If you traded Lin to the Knicks today, the cap hit would be $8.3M.

    You are still 100% wrong.

First round lotto pick does help actually. Better than salary. Big time trade bait for February.

Good attempt as any. One word that sticks out to me is "purvey" which means to provide food.

Consider the Lowry trade to the Raptors and what that did for us.

Remember that Howard wanted to make it work with Lin and Asik. I'm sure that had a lot to do with Morey not pulling a trigger.

Exactly considering hoe deep this draft is a lot of teams who are rebuilding would love to get their hands on a 1st rounder.

Like I said, Morey is looking for two things in any trade.

    1. Someone who will help us immediately for this season and perhaps next (a back up big)
    2. Something for the future ( a lotto pick that can be flipped for another all star or close to all star caliber player)

Yeah but that pick was also packaged with Kevin Martin (who filled a need for the thunder that season and was a big expiring) as well as Lamb who was a lottery pick, as well as another first rounder.

We don't have those assets any more.

Looks like Howard is not looking to make it work anymore considering Morey is shopping lin.

Protected lottery picks wont get you a star on its own in a trade.

We own all our picks, not the best picks but still picks for a loaded draft

Leave it to Morey to find an asset like Martin or player of need for another team.
