Not more than half the MLE. I can see a team looking to upgrade it's bench decide it can pick up 2 guys with the MLE by splitting between them. He's a 3 & D player, which definitely have a role, but they don't command a lot of money.

He's a D player, he probably will develop into 3&D player. He can't hit that 3 consistently yet.

Actually if he can hit that floater consistently, it will really help his offense game. I saw him with a lot of success in preseason with that floater, but he seems to be doing that far less now after his injury. Don't know why.

I think quite a bit will happen over the next year and a half at the point guard position.

    -Lin could get traded
    -Bev could get traded
-The Rockets could pick up a top flight PG
    -Canaan could break out
-The Rockets could take a stud PG in the first round this Summer
-They could sign a top flight PG in free agency
    -Bev could improve dramatically

    etc. etc.

At this point, there is really very little evidence that tells us what direction the Rockets will go with the PG position, but there is evidence that they are probably not satisfied with it long term.

If free agency was tomorrow, I could see the Rockets offering a small 2 year 5 million dollar contract, and the market is so saturated that I could see the Rockets retaining him for that amount.

However.... ALOT is going to change over the next 18 months that will dictate what happens and what direction the Rockets will go at PG later on.

Another option is Llull, which most of us are still hoping can happen.

I'm guessing $1.5-$2M in terms of contract.

Hungry, young PG's that are willing to play defense aren't uncommon. They're all over the place in Euro leagues and the D-league. Given that Beverley is also undersized, this puts an additional drag on his maximum contract value.

Beverley right now is too specialized to command a higher salary. If he developed a better offensive/facilitation game, that would push his value up tremendously.

The ability to facilitate an offense is far more highly valued both as a starter and off the bench. If he even developed offensive skills on par with Raymond Felton, he would command $6M+.

Wow, you still think Bev will be on this team in a year-and-a-half? Remember, this is Morey we're talking about, and Bev ain't exactly the kind of player you want starting at the point long term.

But he would be a great back-up.

A bit undersized in height, but 6"6.5' wingspan.

Wingspan helps, but it doesn't compensate for lack of size, weight and strength when it comes to players backing him down or fighting over screens.

It's just too easy to push around a guy that weighs 30 pounds less than you do.

As dobro said, he isn't a FA until 2015. There is a lot that can happen between now and then. Was last year a fluke offensively or is he just a defensive guy? I would be very hesitant going over the Bi-Annual Exception significantly unless he proves he can get his 3 point shooting back up to last year's efficiency at a high rate.

Good thing Beverley isn't generally having trouble with those outside a few isolated circumstances. MySynergySports.com stats backs this up with him having great defensive numbers in everything, but guarding PR roll man (very small sample size) and spot up shooting (which the wing span should help, but he gives his man too much space sometimes).

Will he continue to be the lowest paying starting PG in the NBA?
