    Im guessing hes got his lock deal there and ready to go.

    Hes trying to get more, if he cant then hey back to the lock deal.

    Or hes just playing one off against the other. NO GM would be silly to only have 1 deal on the table.

    Hes a pro. Will get **** done

    Morey has all the leverage he needs. He doesn't have to deal him. Asik's agent is doing most of the lead work trying to get this deal done to free Asik.

    From the list of players by woj, note that:
    1) No Rondo
    2) No player is an expiring contract. Expirings have even less value the closer to their expiration date, especially this year because people are either trying to solidify playoff position or tank real hard. You can't flip an expiring to those deep in the playoff mix because they are unlikely to have good assets + they won't give good assets for an expiring that could leave in free agency.
    3) Some of these players have contracts that extend beyond when Love becomes available. I think you gotta get Love before free agency, or he's going to LAL.

    Is this trade gonna set up a potential jones trade at the deadline? If we have another pf and pick, then being able to trade lin/bev, jones, our picks, the new pick, and knicks 2nd rounder we would have a lot of firepower for a big move.

    In case you haven't seen this I felt like this might be fruitful for those who don't know how things go behind the scenes during a trade deadline.

    Here is a video of Masai Ujiri doing work on day of the trade deadline right before he pulled off the trade to get Javale McGee and sending Nene to the Wizards. The trade was pulled off 3 minutes before the trade deadline. He also mentioned it is more difficult when involving 3 teams into the mix. Enjoy!

    That article brings some of the fancy speculation down to earth. The names are mostly boring. If you wanted Bradley, Deng, or Rondo, it's not happening.
