Monroe isn't resigning with us as a free agent if we ask him to play 6th man.

Sorry, not many other young players take the crap Jeremy Lin takes.

Monroe is a legitimate fringe all star. He'll start at 4 from day 1 if traded to the Rockets.

I'm not as confident. Rockets and Pistons play completely different styles of basketball. Detroit is more of a rugged, bully ball type team with their muscle up front.

    They're ranked #21 in 3PA per game.
    They're ranked #29 in 3P%.

They don't rely on the 3 ball as much as we do (#1 in Attempts, #16 in %).

Having Dwight and Monroe clogging the lane wouldn't be any different than the Twin Tower experiment we tried in November. It'd close up driving lanes and prevent open 3's. Besides, Monroe and Drummond didn't really "work". The combo hasn't shown to dominate other teams down low.

If we were to get Greg Monroe he'd have to come off the bench.

Uh... no he wont. He's too stiff, slow and not athletic. He will come off the bench to play Center behind Howard.

    this does not make sense...

trading a back up center, for a back up center.

monroe might be involved, but i do not think he ultimately ends up in htown.

Ummm it makes sense when one back up center doesn't want to be here. Which is part of the reason we're trading him in the first place.

Do you not want a back up center to come back in some way?

Why does everybody think it is Detroit? Can somebody provide logical reasoning as to why they would be in it? I don't think they're dealing even if a 3rd team is involved.

How does it not make sense?

If we trade our back-up Center, we have no back-up Center.

Monroe would fit the bill perfectly. Probably better than Asik.

Have you watched Monroe or Detroit this season? They have no 3 pt shooting literally. It's not just Monroe and Drummond, it's them plus Josh Smith plus Stuckey, plus their whole roster. Detroit's best perimeter player / 3pt shooter is Jennings, and he's .350. Second best down to .333. You have Jerebko and Harrelson shoot better than this, but they are spart part players that doesn't even play every game.

Monroe has a decent shot chart outside of 5 feet.

In fact, even Greg Smith works better with Dwight than Asik, because he moves his feet and body in and out of the paint all the time, cutting and re-cutting, and then re-cutting. Asik just stays in one place unless he's coming out for a PnR, and he's not a PnR cutter or pick and pop shooter.

Not to mention Monroe is a very good finisher around the basket with great hands and very good passer.

I am just thinking out loud here and anyone feel free to chime in.

If Morey waits till the last possible second to pull off a deal. The other "teams" couldn't they potentially sabotage the situation and say "you know Morey we don't want to give you that pick you were coveting" or "actually we change our mind, we are no longer interested".

Then he would have no more leverage and he would then need to react quickly to get a deal done. He could then be possibly screwed on a deal and maybe no deal is done and we are stuck with a pissed off Asik.

    I know Morey has probably 3 or 4 scenarios lined up like a 1, 1a, 1b, 1c ...etc...etc

But the thought is pretty scary.

Every GM knows what Morey is trying to do and that is to create the next super team and that is why they will not be willing to help facilitate that from happening.
