I still think that the Rockets are probably doing a deal with the Celtics and getting Bass and Jeff Green. It is everything that the Rockets could ask for. A backup for James Harden and a PF in Bass you knows how to play with Howard from his days in Orlando.

One major difference between Bradley and Beverley is that Bradley is tall/long enough to not only PGs, but SGs and some SFs, which obviously would give the Rockets some more versatility and enable them to hide Harden more effectively on defense when needed.

Bradley is one of the very few elite defender out there. Arguably the best there is at defending both guard positions. Right up there with Tony Allen, anyway.
Of course, unlike Allen, Bradley can actually shoot and isn't a liability on offense. He's not quite a knock-down shooter yet, but he's certainly improved over the years and I have little doubt that over time he'd go away from all the long 2 pull-up jumpers he tends to fall in love with and hoist 3s instead.
I disagree that he's not a enough good play-maker. IMO he's good enough. The offense is not the problem and IMO wouldn't be a problem with Avery Bradley alongside Harden, Parsons & Dwight.

(Of course, Bradley's name hasn't at all been thrown out there by anyone in the media and last I heard the Celtics had no intentions to move him...)

 

If the rockets could somehow get Rondo and he could get healthy, no one would want to play this team come playoff time.

Ainge wants to compete. And Rondo won't be back until January anyway.

This trade could be real---could be---but there could be a lot more moving parts. We could get any one or two or whatever of Hawes, Young, Turner...

Of course it could be crap, or could fall apart and we'll never know.

In any case, the three teams involved seem likely.

Teams don't actually need to. There's no penalty. All that happens is the difference is divvied up between their players for that year, ie 1 year bonus/raise.

 

January is not far away

I highly doubt the Celtics would trade Rondo for Asik.

They could get a lot more for him than Asik...

I tend to agree but don't ever underestimate Morey. We are so lucky to have a GM like him and so many don't even realize it.

That's fine but anyone thinking asik will be the main piece getting rondo is underestimating Ainge.
