    Possible the stupidest post ever

Your so much of a Lebron fan that you've lost touch with reality. LEBRON has by far the most help of any superstar we've seen in the last 10-15 years. You have 3 superstars who single handedly carried they're respective teams prior to playing together (Yes, Bosh is a superstar). One of those superstars Dwayne Wade, already won himself a ring before Lebron. Plus you have another HOF player in Ray Allen coming off the bench. That's 4 HOF players on one team. Miami is collectively more talented team of any of Kobe's teams during any of his championship runs. Lebron fans always try to rewrite history like Lebron had to struggle for his championships, but we all know he's the only superstar in history who plotted to join 2 other superstars just to win a ring. He's not even the closer on that team, Wade is lol

Lebron's rings will always be tainted until he wins a ring without Wade:cool:

We are also deeper at the guard positions. If we had no solid alternative like Bev, Lin would be playing 35 minutes a game.

I don't put Lin behind Parsons because sometimes Parsons is contributing more and sometimes Lin is. Sometimes Lin's playmaking, team defense and sparking big plays is a bit more than what Parsons offers. And Lin tends to have the big game more and he can create for himself and others better. But Parsons is no slouch, he has big games too. From what I've seen, they flip flop, and I'd be fine to say there's a big 4 with Harden 1 and Dwight 2 and no particular order for Parsons and Lin.

True, I think those 4 are the most impactful players on this team.

Everyone has up and down nights but it's about when they are off what else do they bring to the table. Parsons is a better defender and shooter than Lin consistently. Lin can create for others and finish better but Parsons is a good finisher in his own right and his assists numbers are really good for a sf not to mention the rebounding Parsons offers. I'm not really trying to say who I prefer it's more of a positional thing. A well rounded small forward is more valuable than a combo guard.

He's still playing starters minutes though. Pre-injury he's playing 29-31 min a game.

I understand your argument, but don't really agree with your conclusion.

I agree with you that Parsons is much more valuable to this team, but he has the luxury of playing his best position. To be fair there's no way to judge how good Lin can be because he's only had the chance to play the 1 with a pgs usage rate for like 18 games in NY and he was a superstar.

No question though that Parsons at SF >>>> Lin as a spot up SG

Fair enough, it's really hard to look at things objectively when there's a certain affinity toward a specific player. If you look at what each brings and not what you think or want them to bring it seems easy to me.

Now while we can agree that his run was spectacular, you have to admit it takes moe than 18 games to be a superstar. Lin was a sg in high school and college, when he got to the nba is when he really focused on being a pg, he's not a pass first traditional pg he is more of a combo guard ala Jason Terry or Ben Gordon not a Chris Paul or Deron Williams type.

I'm looking at their production, not my affinity to Lin. Parsons had a rough start to the season and took a long time to get in sync. Lin provided a lot of intangibles, making big plays as well as scoring and setting some guys up and he did play good defense and really good defense at times when Parsons defense was not up to his level. Parsons then rebounded and found his shot and developed a solid chemistry with Dwight. Lin has yet to be integrated consistently enough to do what he can so it shows more in some games than others. The point you asked is who is the 3rd best player and looking at their overall production throughout the season, it's flip flopped with Lin certainly in the beginning to middle part and lately it's been Parsons. But it can flip again. I'm not putting any position over another in my assessment. You want to value the small forward fine, but you're not being objective there, you're coming up with a case for Parsons.

Definitely not calling Lin a superstar that sample size is pretty laughable. Also agree he isn't a traditional pg but I would bet when he played SG he was a Harden esque shooting guard with a high usage that depended on driving and mid range. He's been asked to be a catch and shoot 3pt guy on this team which was considered to be his weakness when he got here. He's worked hard and gotten that skill set to above the league average.

I'm also not saying he should be the high usage guy for us, Harden is a consensus top 10 player in the NBA and I'm sure the coaching staff has evaluated who's best at running the offense in practice. I'm just saying you can take even a prime Kobe and make him a wait behind the arc and be a catch-and-shoot guy and only allow him to create for 5mins a game when Harden sits and he wouldn't be a whole lot better than Parsons. Parsons is a damn good player.

He's not all together like a CP3 but at the end of the day, his shot attempts will be fairly low. One of the reasons is his ability to get to the foul line. He's not like Jason Terry, he's more like Parker, today's version of him. Or something like Isiah Thomas Jr.

I definitely see where you're coming from and I think Harden and Lin are redundant with Harden being the better player Lin takes the backseat and gets forced to be a spot up shooter. That's why I like him being a sixth man but I do feel he can be used more efficiently and let him take some of the slack off Harden. For some reason the coaches don't trust him to do that. That tells me he needs to work harder in practice or be more assertive in asking for more responsibility. I trust coaches to put the best players on the floor and just because he's talented doesn't give him the right or entitlement to play he's gotta earn it. Now if he's doing his part and the coaches aren't realizing this they need to go.

I can see those two comparisons. A very poor mans Parker though and I've said before he's comparable to Thomas ( from the kings not pistons) but he's still a combo guard not a true pg or sg.

He's not Harden. And to be honest, who is more redundant the Wade and James? And it took them awhile to figure it out, but they figured it out. Now we have young players and not 2 HOF players, and one is on a superstar level, so I'm not comparing other than the redundancy. I think Lin has a different flavor to his game, Harden more a scorer, Lin a guy looking to survey for the best shot. I don't know why the coaches don't put faith in a guy who, though he turned it over, has shown in both a NY and Houston uniform, that he can produce. His mistake prone playing is part of how he plays and can only be improved by playing through it. It can't happen any other way. So maybe Lin and the coaches don't fit but Lin is doing all he can and did all he could over the off-season reasonable for the coaches. Anyway, for the most part, McHale has shown more faith in Lin. He's coming back from an injury and now 2 injuries if he comes back so we'll see what develops if he gets back in playing form.

I like him as the 6th man too but with Harden getting ~37mpg they will always be playing a ton together. I also like him in the spot up shooter role, I think it spaces the court best and really helps the team and its admirable for him to quietly sacrifice his numbers for the greater good of the Rockets instead of b****ing and moaning for a trade.

I think the team as constructed has a great chance in a couple years if they can all stay together and learn each others strengths and play to them. These things take time though even the heat didn't win a title in year one and they were top 5 all time in terms of talent.

How many minutes are ideal for Harden? And what should he compromise for the good of the team? Dwights compromised touches, so should Harden?
