Asik and Dwight were never going to work as a tandem. Ever. They tend to roam the same space on the floor, offensively and defensively. It doesn't take away from Asik being an elite defender when he's given space to breathe.

Now you sound like you're trolling. Asik couldnt start next to Howard because offensively, they couldnt space the floor well together.

Asik is a great overall defender. He shut down LMA. Dont look at blocks per game as an indicator of a good defensive player. Blocks and steals have always been a poor way of evaluating defense. You need to watch with your own eyes.

Aldridge scored 21 points that game. 9/19 shooting. Aldridge was more off. Yes Asik played good defense this game but that was by no means elite defense. Blazers still scored 101 points as a team.

I do not see most of the these trades working.

Asik is a quality starting center, the most important resource in the NBA. However, he is due a balloon payment next year and then is a free agent.

The longer I think about it, the more I like a three way deal that nets the Rockets Luol Deng. He fits the Rockets system very well as a 3/4 fill in.

Deng is not a guy that can create for himself, but he is a strong defender, can score from anywhere on the floor and capable of covering 3's and 4's. He also moves well without the ball and cuts to the basket. Defensively he would help the Rockets help defense. He also is capable of rebounding well enough to play the 4.

A 3-4 rotation of Parsons/Deng/Jones would be excellent.

    C - Howard
    PF - Deng
    SF - Parsons
    SG - Harden
    PG - Beverley

Howard is coasting right now on defense and is not working as hard as he could in my opinion. Robinson and Duncan made it work. Asik is simply not on that level all around that's the bigger point. But we love our players I'll say that but I still say y'all overrating Asik.

The Rockets put Asik on LMA in the second half. LMA scored 2 points. How can you automatically assume LMA was just "off". Why couldn't it of been good defense? Yes they scored 101, but most of their points came off the 3 point line.

Robinson and Duncan are different players. Are you really trying to compare Dwight to Duncan?

What have you been watching? I've seen Asik hold Dwight and Gasol to under 40% from the field and completely shut down Tim Duncan in the post. I've seen LMA go crazy on us and then Asik switch to him, and he barely scores again.

The Rocket's have 2 forms of leverage. First, the leverage created by other teams. Everyone wants an elite defensive center. Second, the Rockets can do nothing and still win. How? Because we can let his contract expire in 2015 and sign Kevin Love (or other top 20 player) to a max deal. Sure....that's not ideal, but I'd say 2 years of quality (if not championship) play plus a trio of Harden/Love/Howard in 2015 is a good consolation prize.

His "poison pill" is overstated. He's $5 million this year, and $15 million next. That's better than him getting $10 million both years because of the time value of money.

    On Doc's Queen tweet:

Charlotte's nickname is The Queen City and they have a guy with three names.

    Just saying.

Aldridge again had 21 points that game. You acting like Aldridge had a 10 point game like Asik nooooo. Asik defense is good but C'mon he's a center that has something to offer in the nba at a time when the league is limited at that position. On defense the twin tower thing failed too. Teams were scoring on us in the paint with ease. Asik plays hard I will give him that and Dwight coasts through some games. Both want to start they are not Duncan and Robinson which is a great example of guys that played defense no matter what space was given. This tells me one has to go and it's Asik.

Let's not get too carried away here, LMA is a match up nightmare for someone like Asik. LMA average 30 points and 11 boards in 4 games against Houston last season. Sure, some of that can be attributed to someone else guarding him, but there is no way Asik's game translates to shutting down LMA. Not even close.
