I'd take that. A little high with losing Jeremy but I like that trade.

That is a highway robbery for us. Two expiring contracts, a certain low to mid 1st rounder to boot as well?.

Rockets have the top three offense in the nba with or without him. Chuck Hayes looked good here too then once you leave you get put on a team that isn't the same culture and identity wise... the pressure may be more in another arena... then you go from averaging 10 and 10 to 7 and 9 really easily. Seen too many good players leave Houston Rockets lately and not look too great on their new team.

I like this. Sad to lose all the Rox players but this makes us win now even more

    Bev/AB
    Harden/Cisco
    Parsons/Casspi
    Deng/TJ
    Howard/Hawes

We could go big or small with Deng or Hawes at the 4

Let's think of our priorities. A power forward even though jones is doing ok, a solid sixth man, maybe a true PG and any star we can get our hands on regardless of position. My guess is unless a team offers us a good player I think we receive mostly picks and a couple decent players. This deal is going to either get us ready for the trade deadline for a star or next season. I think Morey feels comfortable as is with our team. He will prolly make all moves for the deadline and next season. If we do end up with Somone like Paul millsap though it would be nice and he's gone in two years and easily tradable with his bargin of a deal contract

I think the exact opposite. People are overvaluing what the see, and undervaluing what they don't see.

Am I saying that Asik is a top 30 player? No. And none of the guys I listed are top 30 players.

So if you don't have a game changing, championship caliber star in the discussion, what's the next best thing? Well.....an elite defensive center would be pretty high on my list. Asik is "The Next Best Thing" to a star. He alters the game for the other team.

Another aspect of this is too many people overvalue potential. I believe Zach Lowe made a comment recently that he thought draft picks were starting to become overvalued. We see a guy like Cousins and say, "look how much potential he has", but the real question should be, "how much does he contribute to winning after being in the league for 3.5 years". The answer is not much.

It's fine to criticize my opinion. Would I trade Asik for Cousins straight up? Probably, but not necessarily because I think he's a better player. I'd do it because everyone else thinks he's a better player...i.e. a liquid and valuable asset.

I'd be extremely pleased with this trade if it happened, mostly because it'd bolster my confidence in the front office's ability to execute great deals despite the departure of Hinkie and Rosas.

A very true statement. He's probably the third best player on the team from an impact basis.

The truth is Dwight starting at center with that same team makes the playoffs as a top 4 seed winning 50 plus games. Asik starting with Dwight has our current record worse then what it should be. Asik without guards driving to the basket drawing attention to free him up to score... Asik pretty much would not score. Morey may trade him to a team that doesn't have the benefits the rockets gave him. Asik has no offense and his defense is good but not great. He's not Mutombo in his prime he's simply Omer Asik getting paid 15 million next year at 7 feet.

Disagree that his defense isn't great. Morey himself said when Asik was on the court, we had a top 10 defense last year. When he sat, we were bottom 5. That should tell you something about the "defensive help" he was getting from the other 4 players. To jump some 20+ spots when he's playing means he's elite, not just good.

Respect your opinion but dont agree with you at all, Asik is an elite defender period just like Daryl Morey and JVG say he is, Asik impacts the game.

Cousins is averaging 22 ppg 10.7 rpg and 1 bpg. Omer Asik getting 30+ minutes a game could barely score 10 points per game. For the love of god finsraider, stop being a homer. You don't need two big men down low. Asik is overrated as a defensive stopper. He was scored on countless times in the post. If we got Cousins for Asik... you'd be the only person on this board that would be sad. THE ONLY PERSON

I'll give you Sanders, BUT LOPEZ. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! He is averaging 20.5 ppg, 6 rpg, and almost 2 bpg. You would trade for him because (1) He has more all-star appearances than Asik for good reason (2) He will end up making the same money as Asik in one year (3) HE IS THE BETTER PLAYER.

I don't get worked up, but you are stupid as **** and forced me.

If Asik's defense is that elite he would be in the running for defensive player of the year. Now within team defense he may look great at spots but overall defense he's just a good defender nothing special. He's not shutting down anyone in the playoffs in today's nba.

That is great, but you are greatly overvaluing his impact. Rockets have zero leverage because other teams know we have to trade him. It hurts us to NOT trade him.

His "poison pill" contract becomes a massive burden on us next year for a player that we can't even put on the court. His defense is greatly overshadowed by how terrible he is on offense. He gets scored on by skilled big men all the time.

I dont get it. Why do people like Hawes so much? He's soft and doesnt play defense. He's a stretch 5. Rockets have plenty of scoring, they need someone to play defense and rebound. Deng is an expiring contract, maybe we can get something for him, but he's not a long term solution for this team. The only thing i like is the bobcats' pick.
