"The Truth is Out There" - Tagline from X-Files
"Resist or Serve" - PS2 Game based on X-Files
"Smoking Man" - Character from X-Files

It all has to do with X-Files, but I don't see the connection.

Ticket sales and buzz heading into CSNHouston.

It worked. Season ticket sales went up 10% as soon as Lin signed.

    Hmmm interesting Claim

Spurs - Duncan or Splitter - Pick one. Both fit Pop's system better than Asik
    Pacers - Hibbert
    Rockets - Dwight
    Chicago - Noah
    Detroit - Drummond
Knicks - Chandler, Yes I know he is injured, but he is coming back
    Jazz - Kanter or Favors
    Nets - Lopez
    Clippers - Jordan
    Grizzlies - Gasol
    Kings - Cousins
    Pelicans - Davis
    Bucks - Sanders

These are all players that teams value or are already better than Asik because they are either younger, better contracts, or just better at basketball.

Asik is a great defensive C, but is a complete liability on defense. You are not going to get two first round draft picks out of him

I took it as the IS is capitalized. Could be for dramatic effect, or IlyaSova or Iman Shumpert? Don't believe either, just trying to help decode it too

Bobcats would be a mid round pick, since they would be better with Asik
    and not that bad now...

It is kind of useless to speculate how much extra income Lin brings to a team from Asian fans since we don't have the numbers in front of us. We do know that it isn't enough to have stopped Morey from shopping him (and Asik) in the summer when a Chris Paul signing was a possibility. We also know that they didn't end up trading him, and Chris Paul turned out to stay in LA.

Lin may or may not go, but Morey will likely only deal him in the right situation for the right incentives (be it players, assets, or cap flexibility).

Honesty, Hinrich sucks. Domd221 was spot on, on Hinrich. He is a slower, unathletic Patrick Beverly. He cannot create off the dribble and he's not even that good of a shooter.

It's funny, I have this sort of an inside joke about Hinrich. Everytime I see him in a game, he bricks all of his shots, even layups lol.

Completely different situations. Dwight wasn't on a back to back team that had the very real possibility of winning the third time.

Davis? Ibaka? they are better flashy shot blockers, but they are not Asik interms of positional defense. Asiks size and strength allows him to easily defedn the back to the basket bigs with ease. He rarely if ever get bullied in the key. He dosent fall for pumpfakes and protects the rim better then anyone not named Dwight.

Seems like dramatic effect to me, but who knows??

Could just be referring to the fact there there's a lot of smoke out there right now. Teams are trying to play games...trying to disguise or hide what's really going on. But the "truth" is already out there.

What is the truth? No idea. It may be that many teams are acting like they're going to "compete" this year and thus are overvaluing their assets, but in reality they know they aren't close to a championship.

Morey needs to set his sights on Greg Steimsma. He is a very good Center. Can rebound, block shots, good athlete, and can hit the mid range jumper, plus he's cheap.

The only concern is his injury. Dont know if he has recovered from it yet. He would be a great back up for this team.

Even with his recent slump, Hinrich is a career 38% 3 point shooter.

I'm not saying he is the be all end all, but he is not at all a bad throw-in in any Asik deal.

Obviously he should not be the main piece we get back if we trade Asik

It's not necessarily about cap space this summer. It's about having expiring deals ready along with a young player or two and picks to trade for a superstar (Love/Melo/Rondo) at the deadline and then if nothing materializes at the deadline go into the summer with picks/young player/birds rights contracts or cap space to generate a deal.

*** Don't discount the possibility of trading for a large expiring deal (KHump, Hedo, Okafor, RJeff, ABynum) and getting them to agree to an extension for a raise next year with a small guarantee that gives the Rockets the ability to control the contract until a couple weeks into free agency.

For instance, we could trade for Hedo in an extend-and-trade transaction, extending him at $12,540,000 for 3 years with a small (or zero) guarantee. Hedo can be bought out for $6 million (he probably will be bought out unless something like this materializes for him). So he would probably jump on the opportunity to sign a large non-guaranteed extension so he can collect another $6-7 million.

Such a contract would allow the Rox to control his salary value (+25%) in trade going into 2014 with the ability to simply drop him and get his contract off the books at any time.

Jameer Nelson is also a guy that has a $2 million guarantee into next season.

Do not discount the value of those contracts.
