I was hoping today or tomorrow this will happen so we're not short handed against the pacers (and because it'll stop me from looking at this thread every 15 seconds)

Not so for Les. He is making more than just a few extra bilingual Mandarin-English sponsor ads at TC.

After drafting Yao, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander founded Rocket Capital, a private investment company that “specializes in investments in emerging markets with a strong focus on the Greater China region.” Rocket Capital has invested in Chinese railway, auto, tea, and mining companies, among others; it has also poured millions into the Hong Kong’s IPO and equity markets. With Lin on board, and Yao maybe opening some doors, Alexander could gain access to more opportunities in China that could further benefit the franchise financially.

“The fact that the Rocket brand is a big deal in China makes Jeremy Lin more valuable to the team,” says George Postolos, the Rockets president and CEO from 2002-2006 who now holds the same positions with the Houston Astros. “The Rockets aren’t starting from scratch. Adding Jeremy Lin to the picture is a natural extension of what they’ve done.”

And not as ridiculous as some might think.

And then what? We get our max FA in 2014 and then the next year we trade Harden for a clear cap in 2016? I'm invested in the laundry as much as the next fan, but this constant incoming and outgoing of players is getting really old.

-The Bulls are not worried about the Asian fan interest. That city is crazy about basketball, and there is no reason to think they need to pull a hail mary to try and drive fan interest. They dont need any more to sell tickets, and you need to do some homework on NBA revenue sharing if you want to start up the old Asian dollars/Yao Ming conversation.

-Linsanity in NYC was a one-time novelty. He's been performing very similarly the first few weeks of the season and you haven't seen any major national coverage. Linsanity was fun because it was a Rudy type of story. Now Rudy is good consistently and its no longer a major story.

-They aren't losing Deng for nothing. They are gaining significant cap & financial savings by letting Deng walk. Their finances have been an issue for years now that the Bulls ownership have not been happy about & has reportedly caused strife with the management and ownership. Also was a big reason why Asik was not resigned.

-Jeremy Lin is not a short term replacement of Rose. He's signed on for major dollars next year, and there is no indication that he will mesh well with Chicago's team. He'd essentially be their overpaid version of Nate Robinson last year. They had good success with that last year, but it took alot out of the rest of the team having to pull so much weight on the defensive end last year. My guess is they wont count on just Lin playing this role getting them that far this year.

Jeremy Lin might or might not get traded to Chicago, but more than likely the Rockets will have to make it worth their while in the process. If I'm Chicago's owners, there is literally no way I trade for Jeremy Lin unless I'm getting financial relief elsewhere on the roster. Possibly moving out Gibson for other assets, or Boozer going out in another deal.

Why are people infatuated with getting another max player this summer? Bosh is NOT coming here.

Nontheless, it still clears a lot of cash to throw at someone like Bosh.

Because things worked out so well for us the last time we had 3 HOF players on the same team

How much merit is it to the talk about Lin going to Chicago/Asik going to Atlanta/Deng and 1st round pick coming to Houston?

It's not about Bosh. It's about Cap space to trade for a Max player like Love, Aldridge and the like.

You know this how?. There are other free agents out there as well that can help. Having a clean cap slate is allways a good thing.

Assuming the "Queen to Queens-Level 3" is referring to Hinrich, and Doc Rocket has already mentioned Hawes, how about a 3-way between the Rockets, Chicago, and 76ers?

Houston Out: Lin, Asik, Casspi, 2015
Houston In: Hawes, Hinrich, Dunleavy, protected 1st via 76ers

    Chicago Out: Hinrich, Dunleavy
    Chicago In: Lin, Casspi

    76ers Out: Hawes, 2015 Protected 1st
    76ers In: Asik

    Beverley / Brooks
    Harden / Hinrich
    Parsons / Dunleavy
    TJones / Hawes
    Howard / Hawes

ok if Deng AND Taj Gibson are coming here, I'd do that deal bergudingly. I think it's a TERRIBLY shortsighted move which takes away our only natural playmaker PG but whatever. At least we get a big defender in return.

Chalotte cannot give this year's pick. They owe a protected pick to Chicago.

At some point yes, but not necessarily in December.

If Morey trades for say expiring contracts (with meh players) and picks, its essentially like getting a present you didn't really want or need for Christmas, but you take back the gift for store credit you can use later in February when things go on sale and you can get the gift you really want or need.

He was an assist machine in his 11 minutes that season!
