Take out the Wallace part. Here are my fixes:

Rondo - Best defensive PG in the NBA
Bradley - Top 3 defensive SG in the NBA
    Lee - good defender
    Sullinger - good defender
Asik - Top 2 defensive center in the NBA

Agreed. Seems very unlikely to be a legit rumor.

One thing to note. The Hawks do not own the Nets pick. They have the right to swap picks with them. Can someone who knows the rules of this better confirm if a right to swap can in fact be traded or not?

2014 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Atlanta has the right to swap its 2014 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2014 1st round pick [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]; Brooklyn will convey the less favorable of these two picks to Boston (see Brooklyn Debits)

2015 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Atlanta has the right to swap its 2015 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2015 1st round pick [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]

2015 second round draft pick from Brooklyn
    Brooklyn's 2015 2nd round pick to Atlanta (via Utah) [Brooklyn-Utah, 12/22/2011 and then Atlanta-Utah, 6/27/2013]

2017 second round draft pick from Brooklyn
    Brooklyn's 2017 2nd round pick to Atlanta [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]

2017 second round draft pick from Miami
Miami's 2nd round pick to Atlanta protected for selections 31-40 in 2017 or unprotected in 2018 [Atlanta-Miami, 6/27/2013]

And by that I mean re-traded. Obviously it can be traded since that is how they got it. Just want some clarification on if the Hawks are allowed to turn around and trade that right to swap again.

And takes on Lins 15 million for next season.I guess they might feel Lin will give them more financial clout in Asia.

So would Atlanta have to technically trade their own 1st round pick in order for whichever team to receive the rigth to swap for the Nets pick?

Each pick swap involves two picks. We would be getting whichever pick complements the Nets pick in that swap.

I believe it can be, but it would have to come with the pick itself. So we would get the Hawks pick and would then be able to choose between the better of the Hawks pick or Nets pick.

I don't know if that source has any cred. While it would be great to get rid of the LOFS, have space for a max next off-season, and get a great rental in Deng I don't see the Bulls trading Deng even though Linsanity 2.0 is a good possibility in Chicago.

Thibbs would have a say in it. Deng is a good defender and while Lin isn't bad at all, he's not a great defender in his eyes. That's what he values most so he would say no.

Can't trade both of them but can trade one of them and then turn the other one into a 3-way right to swap.

So, in other words, they could trade the 14 pick swap outright to another team meaning that team gets the right to take either their pick or the Nets pick, whichever is higher. And then the 15 pick could be turned into a 3-way swap to a third team where the third team takes the highest of their pick, Nets pick, Atlanta pick, and Atlanta is left with either the third team's pick or the highest of their and the Nets pick.

Hawks don't necessarily own the Nets pick, but they do have a pick swap option. It will simply be the better of the two which right now looks to be Brooklyn's pick, but you never know. Still a ton of basketball to be played.

IMO, it seems like a feasible trade scenario for Houston.

However this goes against what we've heard from both the Bulls & the Hawks in the past. Atlanta was reported recently that Ferry's plan is to stockpile assets that he can use in a trade down the line for an all-star player much like Morey did for Harden. Just doesn't seem like trading a pick & expirings for Asik really makes sense. Sure he could see value in Asik as a bigger trade piece, but I doubt it.

With the Bulls, they were unwilling to give Asik the same contract they would be absorbing in this deal at the worst possible time. They wont have to pay the poison pill with their cap space, but they will still be at least 3.25 over the lux tax next year with this move, will have to pay the repeater tax, will have to pay an extra 6.6 million to Lin off the cap books essentially, and on top of that, they probably still wont be a contending team simply losing Deng and adding Lin. Actually they are probably worse with Lin than Deng (no offense to Lin but Deng is actually really good).

-Also don't forget that Mirotic will probably want to come over next Summer and will have a hefty buyout & I believe he wont be subject to the normal rookie scale. They could be paying a hefty cost for him as well.

If Lin's contract was expiring or super cheap next year I could see them definitely doing this, but for next year assuming Rose will be back, it just doesn't make sense IMO.

Just have a hard time believing the Bulls would be interested at all in Jeremy Lin much less the Hawks be interested in giving up a 1st round pick in a loaded draft even if Asik is worth it and some.

There is no real money in this idea of Lin bringing clout.

The NBA has a revenue split will all teams for merchandise sales outside of the team store in the arena the Bulls also don't have a problem selling tickets since they have been selling out games for years. It's a great Basketball city.

The only clout they could gain in name recognition but they are the Bulls. Everyone knows Jordan's team

Yep. Its annoying especially when there are two other threads about potential Asik deals & ideas about them. This thread was made for the purpose of updates. Its confusing when you want to check and see the latest and have to sifer through 80 pages of crappy ideas to tell if they are coming from a source or not.
