Have you been to the Burger Barn in Manvel? Its in your hood Now that is the best burger place...not only in the Houston area but maybe the entire state.
If Bacliff is considered "Houston area" then my vote is for Stomp's on 146. Opened to fill the void left by Tookie's in Seabrook. Tookie's has since re-opened, but I prefer the specialty burgers at Stomp's. Specifically, The Stomper. Two patties. Oh jesus it's nice.
Stanton's and Petrol Station are the best I've had. Want to try Bubba's Texas Burger Shack, Burger Park, and Sparkle's also.
Burger guys closing for good Can't say I'm surprised, went once and paid way too much for what I got.
I don't think this is due to low turn out. I think this is due to bad business decisions. I think that downtown venture really cratered their profit margin, and a slow holiday season probably was the nail in the coffin. Would have taken too long to dig out of that hole. They say they're going to stay open in Beaumont (I think they run the kitchen of a pub out there, or some other goofy arrangement), but they really ought to look into going full-time foodtruck. Less overhead, already have some name recognition. It could work. Ironically, the one time I tried to go get their food, they were closed. Closed on a Sunday afternoon. I don't know how a fledgling eatery can afford to shut its doors during a prime selling time like the Sunday afternoon lunch crowd. They're not Chik-Fil-A or the Breakfast Klub, but they acted like it.
I live very close to the westheimer location, and I understand why they're closing. The burgers were good, but not incredible. The prices were ridiculous, and I wasn't a fan of their fries. Duck fat? Who the **** wants fries from duck fat? Anyway I appreciated a lot of their ideas like their sodas, but I believe at the end of the day pricing is what killed them. They can blame whatever they like, but I really find it hard to believe it was anything else.
Yeah I lived very close to them for a while, but only went once. It was around 6:00pm on a Friday and I was the only person there. The burger was fine, but nothing extraordinary. I actually liked the fries. The sodas were interesting. But in the end, it cost too much for a good-but-not-great burger.
Place sucked. Deserved to close. I get that whole "we don't care you either get us or you dont" mantra, but the place was raggedy looking, expensive and terrible customer service to boot.
I had BRC's hamburger in a bowl salad (sounds gross) recently - that's my new best burger. It's goooood. Not sure Burger Guys ever cracked my top 8ish. Had to drive outside the loop for it. Don't think so.
