Manu single-handedly lost finals for the Spurs and Popovich didn't bench him.

Popovich is a good coach, but his situation is unique and comparing him to anyone else is not fair. He was outcoached by Scott Brooks and Spoelstra in last two playoffs.

The only reason he is considered an all-time great coach is because of Duncan who is top 5 player ever and the best two-way big man of all-time.

Manu has earned his spot on the floor by being a part of multiple championships.

And his is not a problem of accountability or lack of effort.

Popovich is considered a great coach because he is a great coach.

Pop knew the importance of installing faith in his players.

What Mchale and Sampson have been lacking is capable of looking further and not behaving short shortsightedly.

Growing pains. Young inexperienced teams go through them.

We dont have a hof coach like Pop. But you can best believe the Spurs went through these same growing pains.

True, but that has absolutely nothing to do with my post.

Cousins is a very good player. He's strong inside, can make a midrange jumper, post up, and rebound. People just give him a bad wrap because of a few blowups.

They did, but their coach held everyone accountable -that is 100% my point.

Popovich treats all players equally, and will bench anyone if they are not putting in the effort.

McHale seems to be an enabling type, a guy who WANTS them to try hard, but isn't willing to risk pissing them off to make it so.

less than Tyreke Evans though. It was comical, he sprained his ankle before the season, then again last week, they said he was out for 7-14 days, but he immediately plays the next game, and sprains it again the game after! LOL.

I agree, some players play on egg shells and that's on McHale and Sampson. If a guy makes a mistake just say, I know you are better than that. Go in there and play your best game. Take him out when he's mentally tired but put him back in there and say go! I think there's a great game in Smith and he can contribute, T Jones can emerge, of course Lin can play and even DMo can look fantastic but the coaches aren't doing enough to while disciplining them, encouraging them and pumping them up to get the best out of them.

Harden reminds me of Victor Oladipo when I watched him in college. When be sometimes runs iso and goes to the basket he sometimes fumbles the ball or tries to draw a foul to go to the free throw line.

And see this is what ticks me off. Is Dwight competitive enough? Does he want it bad enough? I'm not saying Dwight has to be Hakeem Olajuwon but he must have the same competitive edge had. I don't think he has it now. No way would Hakeem let another center especially young buck outdue him for the entirety of a game.

    Doesn't sound great.

    Pimp you are right.

Do you think Mchale thinks he will lose his job if he pisses off one of his stars?

It's a star driven league. Melo got rid of D'Antoni by simply not giving effort on the court.

PPat got traded shortly after he called out teammates for being selfish.

We got the best bench in the league now with Lin and Harden sitting out!
