Why would the Jazz want Asik? Their own twin towers experiment has been scrapped. They extended Favors @ almost $12M per and see him as an athletic Dwight Howard type rim protecting center.

They thought Kanter could be a LMA type scoring PF, but he hasn't been able to play away from the basket or defend his position. He has 4 fewer boards per 36 so far this season.

It's possible the Jazz could be a 3rd team in a trade, but they'd be looking for a stretch 4 and probably unwilling to give up a unprotected pick.

Yeah, I think the Jazz are interested in acquiring a good stretch-4 and we could possibly get one through the Asik trade or the Lin trade. I think Jazz would trade a pick and an expiring for a good stretch-4 or possibly even trade Kanter for a good stretch-4 and maybe a second rounder or low end first rounder.

I hope it's either Hawes and a nice 1st rd pick or Caron Butler and a nice first rd pick. I'd be happy with either of those.

Neither Aaron Brooks nor Francisco Garcia can be traded without their consent. They are both "One-Year Bird" players who would lose their Bird rights if traded. The Rockets would have Early Bird rights on Brooks and full Bird rights on Garcia if they are not traded this season. Therefore, those two guys have veto power over any trade involving them.

Don't look for trades to include either Brooks or Garcia unless it is a no-brainer win for those players (both basketball-wise and financially).

Important to remember that you can't flip the One Year Bird.

Probably too early go give up on Kanter since he's still 21, but they need to figure out who will be their coach long term. They're not going to play Kanter if the coach is trying to save his job. Also they need to figure out if Hayward can be a first option SG or is better suited as a 6th man. Their picks are probably too valuable to trade away at this point.

I'm still wondering about Kanter based on Doc Rocket's tweet.

Everybody's heard about the bird. Bird, bird, bird, bird is the word. Don't you know about the bird? Well, everybody knows, bird is the word.

Well, that is about the farthest thing from the truth. First off, Young has played almost exclusively at PF this season. Second of all Parsons IS the SF starter on this team unless the Rockets trade for a Star. Thad Young is not a star and he sure as hell would not be an upgrade to Parsons at the SF position.

Kanter is definitely the kind of stretch 5 we need. His jump shooting form is truly a sight to behold.

I just reviewed Doc Rockets tweets and did not find anything about Kanter. He did say his money was on PHI or ATL.

Lin has back spasms and Jones has the flu.

I don't think there is anything to this.

His original tweet didn't mention Kanter. Said we need one from Turkey but not Sova, Iran. He later tacitly confirmed we were dealing for Ilyasova if a 3rd team got involved. So my thought was perhaps we were going to push Ilyasova and a pick to Utah for Kanter.
