Is this thread still about vampires? I wanna talk about vampires. I grew up in the Episcopal Church, and we never talked enough about vampires for my personal taste. More vampires please!!
It must not have been high Episcopal. High Episcopal churches are so much closer to Catholocism that there is at least 75% more vampire teaching than the low. I don't even want to blow your mind giving you the percentages for Anglican/Church of England.
Kind of hard to do that when its embedded in nearly every single religion to be an annoying proselytizer of whatever religion you follow.
Is it? Is it really? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/3eTjftyAtIc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah, my church "flirted with" high Episcopal some. Broke out the incense for rare occasions. I was an acolyte, and I only heard brief whispers of vampires while completing my candle-lighting duties. It always left me wanting more. I knew they knew more. But they hid it from me....like parents of an overweight child hiding candy.
Now I know this thread is just for trolling. At first I thought it was serious, but this was a dead give away.
So this is what the D&D is like. People twist your words around (i already explained about the vampires part), read and post in threads that clearly weren't for them (titled specifically for catholics, 90% of probably who replied here probably aren't), and continue to joke about stupid ****.
So, what was the point with the vampire comment? Did you mean that you know Catholics that believe in vampires (nothing to do with scripture)? As I explained, vampires and ghosts are not part of the Catholic tenets, so if you know Catholics that believe in that, they are NOT being taught that as part of their faith.
As i have said, it's nothing to do with what the Catholic church teaches them. It's their lack of faith that I have witnessed from many Catholics to believe in stuff like vampires. What I am basically saying is that a lot of Catholics don't go by what they are taught to do and believe as well as other religions in their personal lives, this included ones that believe in other gods. As for the Catholics gave us the bible comment: http://carm.org/did-roman-catholic-church-give-us-our-bible
I suspect every faith has their fair share of members that believe in things outside their faith. Why are you picking on Catholics for this? I suspect you can find Jews, Muslims, Hindi, Pentecostals, Evangelicals, etc. that believe in things outside their faith.
Because I am around Catholics every day. Also a reply to when you replied about the saints comment: you say you pray to them because they were holy and it is equivalent to having someone pray for you... Well, difference is they're not alive and they are statues and inanimate objects that you pray to... Where does the Scripture say you should do that anyway? Btw, i appreciate you replying in this thread in a respectful manner, even if my posts may seem offensive. I just want to get to the root of how you think. Don't care what these others think who come here and think they can bash us and our beliefs.
Do you believe in heaven and that souls go to heaven? I believe my father is alive in heaven. I pray to him to watch over us. I believe the Saints are alive in heaven. I pray to them to intercede on my behalf.
It's what an open, online forum in the adult world looks like. The notion that one could restrict responses to one demographic or denomination is obtuse and exasperating: real life is not a table at a high-school cafeteria.
I read about five paragraphs and had to stop because that is abysmal history right there. I think it is just a sign of certain Protestant insecurity to attempt to change history and discount Catholicism. You just need to learn more about history and theology and understand that you would not exist as a Christian if not for those dumb Catholics. Incidentally, this thread is getting the responses it deserves because your first post started from an aggressive position of superiority wanting to know why Catholics were as terrible as they are and then asked for honest discussion. Sorry, can't take you seriously and obviously not many others can, either.
Bram Stoker was Protestant...an Irish Protestant. Just sayin'. Do you know any other Irish Protestants who write too much..particularly on message boards?
Ok...we get it. You don't like Catholics and think that you are somehow a better Christian than Catholics are. You, of course, ignore the fact that the Catholic Church was founded by the Apostles. You come in here with misinformation and garbage "facts" that you use to bash Catholics. You do so in a very insulting manner. If you truly consider yourself a Christian, behaving in such a manner is indicative that you have missed the entire point.
I never stated anything as fact, what i have said in this thread is stuff i've read or witnessed. Please explain the Apostles and why the Catholic Church should be above what the Scripture teaches due to its foundation and tradition.
