The Houston Rockets are shopping Omer Asik and several teams are quite interested in acquiring one of the league’s elite defensive centers. With Sanders’ future in Milwaukee uncertain, some NBA officials believe Asik would be a good fit for the Bucks. What’s more, the Rockets have had more than a passing interest in Ilyasova, an outstanding perimeter shooter who would nicely complement Rockets center Dwight Howard. Racine Journal-Times

The talk is Philadelphia is the front-runner in the Asik sweepstakes, with two of the Western Conference’s top teams — Oklahoma City and Portland — in the mix as well. While Asik would certainly help a lot of teams, acquiring him wouldn’t come without a cost. He is due to be paid $15 million next season. Racine Journal-Times

Why in the world would we upgrade OKC like that?

Not sure what OKC would have to send out to make that work.

I'll take Steven Adams and Nick Collison. We'd have so much depth.

Unless they send out Perkins, Can't see that working without Ibaka.

    Maybe they really sweeten it.

    Perkins/Adams/Perry Jones and a 1st Round Pick
    for
    Asik/DMo

While it works, It doesn't really help the Rockets all that much short term.

Keep an eye out for any NBA players being benched for tonight's games, especially the ones for undisclosed reasons.

You think they'd give us Adams in that trade? I guess they might, if it finally gave them the flexibility to dump Perk. That I would go for... Adams could definitely contribute right away and appears to have a ton of upside. I'm meh about J. Lamb, though.

I don't get why OKC & Portland would be in the mix. IMO we would want LMA or KD for Asik. Portland's happy with R. Lopez & they're on a roll right now. Why would they want Asik for LMA? OKC would want to include Perkins' contract in the deal & we wouldn't do that.

    Just my thoughts.

Spencer Hawes PLEASE. It makes so much sense for the rockets. We get a legit 7 footer so that Dwight can sit. We can play twin towers that actually works occasionally since Hawes has a legit 3 point shot. The dude is running in a similar system in 76ers that we have now in Houston. He runs well and a good pick and roll handler. PLEASE MOREY, please go for Spencer Hawes. Throw us a bone Hinkie!

Nah.. too soon. Trade won't be done until mid week. This is my assumption, nothing backing it or anything. Just logic.

So I'm a fan of Hawes as well, and think he's actually a better player than Asik, but I don't like the fact that he's a 1-yr rental. If we are trading Asik we need to get at least one trade able asset in return; a draft pick or prospect. Hawes and a 1st rounder is what I'm hoping for.

Nah, that's asking too much for Asik. A one year rental for Hawes is okay for me since that does leave room for another piece that might be interested in contending with the Rockets next year. Or we can use that cash space on a long term contract extension for Parsons. Plus don't the Rockets still got that tax exempt 2-3 million dollar contract we can use? I can see someone getting signed alittle later in the year, probably a real shooting guard to give Harden breaks. Should have used in on Bellineli(aka SPICY MEATBALLS) seeing the year he's having.

    and Hawes is playing great.
Could be our backup C and starting PF.

I like the idea of him stretching the floor for the Rockets second unit.

How funny would it be if Mirey asks for Lamb, Adams + Dallas pick for Asik?
