I'm really tired of folks bashing Howard. He hasn't been perfect but is steadily improving and dominating the interior on bad nights. What I'm most impressed with is that he isn't pitching a fit BC our perimeter guys are incapable of feeding the post, or not focusing that as a priority on nights when he has it rolling or when he has a favorable matchup. He has worked on his free throw stroke and needs to be fed the damn ball. I know his efficiency numbers are not great, but that's not the point. If we want to take the next step as a team, we have to get him the ball when he has deep position and when he has things going. He has gotten more patient w his moves and the efficiency is increasing. Credit to Howard for not pouting about this.
He is starting to look oh so comfortable in the post. It is scary how good this team could be If keeps it up, and If our guards could learn how to get him the ball deeper. He is the perfect last option on offense, and a nice alternative to the constant Harden isolations.
happy this guy is here, I spoke bad about him before but will gladly admit I'm SOLD now, and will take back my words -he's maturing -free throws better -post moves better -one of the leaders -has already done things for community & kids in Houston & never acts like he is too good to interact with the fans
I like Dwight and we should have gone to him more last night, especially when Harden was sitting. But it's easy to be mature when we're winning and everything's good. That's not the test.
Everything isn't good... as it hasn't been all season... We've been terribly inconsistent all season, have suffered some terrible losses... and Dwight hasn't b****ed and moaned about it... The guy is consistently smiling, and trying his best the next day. There are still issues that need to be addressed, and only time will tell if we have the right players in management, and right mentality in our players to do so. Improvement isn't improvement until it's reliably sustained... Frankly, if this team were several games under .500 everyone would have a right to b**** and moan, including Howard.
Yeah Howard bashing is dumb. Guy gives it his all night after night and still doesn't get the touches he deserves. He establishes deep posts position super early in the clock and our guards ignore him. Honestly it should be a rule, if he's literally right under the basket early in the clock get him the ball.
He's really impressed me over the past 2 weeks. I wasn't too thrilled with him coming on board (we had to do it, but I've never been a big fan of him), but he's showing that he's putting in the work. He's been dominant over this stretch of games AND he's been improving many aspects of his game over the season, most impressively with free throws.
The last two games have really been impressive for D12. He is really playing well. His post moves have become much better, more decisive . We just more time on the court for this team to really jell...and getting the Asik diversion behind us will really help them jell quickly.
I agree about the improvements he is showing. This is a fun team to watch and the team seems to love Howard.
Top 10 overall in 4 categories.. Blocks, rebounds, double2 and field goal percentage. If you want to compare with just centers.. Top 10 in... Ppg, rbs, assists, fg%, steals, double2 and blocks If he can get his ft% up, he would be scoring more as he is number one in FT attempts.
I loved how genuinely excited everyone on the team was when he hit that 3 last night. You can tell that the guys like having him here. He's been a force the last 2 weeks, and as the rest of the team gets better at feeding him the ball, the more the team will succeed.
I love how his 3 point stroke is improving. He is up to 33% for the season and if not for a couple of end of quarter jacks, he'd be up to 100%
Dwight has been borderline MVPish the last several games. This team is not a finished product, and it will be different a week from now. It is young, and has shown the same kind of growing pains OKC showed before they became relevant. 4th best record in the West, yet there are 3 new starters in the lineup from last year. OKC-core has played together for several years SA- No need to get in to that Portland-Core has been together a while as well This team has shown it can beat anybody any given night, as well as the ability to lose to anybody any given night. This team is young and far from peaking. Tough out come playoff time.
