Either start Lin, or bring in a new starting PG, Bev ain't cuttin' it.

I don't know where people always come up with this notion that Lin can't play D. Lin's D is good, although Bev's D is better in some situations. The offense runs better when Lin and Harden are on the floor together. I really like Bev but I think you need to get the offense running well to compete at the highest level, when the Rockets are playing great on the offensive end of the floor they're very hard to beat.

CF has a lot of people here who aren't behind Lin and they'll cherry pick the games where someone plays better than Lin and Lin plays poorly and stuff about how he's not mentally tough and overrated and overpaid and blah blah blah. That's just the reality here. Hubie Brooks complemented Lin's defense about 3 times last night, said he did everything right and didn't even believe 2 of the foul calls were on Lin. So, Lin had a tough game, Beverley has had woeful games, Harden has had really poor games especially that 0-10 from 3 pointers a few games ago where he was putrid. So it happens to good, very good, and really good players too. Unfortunately, Lin hasn't played lately, he's not in game shape now, and it may take a few games before he shuts people up by just playing superbly. So they can crow on now about this player or that player and Lin is trash and trade Lin and their usual stuff. It's their hour now to gloat and they're predictably doing so. Lin is a Rocket and if he plays well, the Rockets have a better chance to win than if he doesn't. Same is true for Patrick or AB. Lin and Beverley are young and both need to improve certain parts of their game. Both have over the off-season but as the season goes on, more of their weaknesses will be exposed so they'll continue to work on their game. They'll be used in the game according to the coaching plans for them.

This times 1,000. This type of thing has been going on for years. Magic was a combo guard that played CENTER for a game or two. Pippen was a point forward at times. Check out LaBron. People need to understand the flow of the game and match up, both defensively and offensively. Just because it says "PG" by your name doesn't entitle you to bring the ball up every time and handle it 90% of the time.

That honestly wouldn't change anything, since there are "Fans" that would rather see Lin gone even if it makes the team worse.

Like suggesting trading Lin without getting a replacement PG for cap space? Really? That's hurting the team no matter how you slice it.

And there is always going to be a swath of fans that can only view every game through a narrow prism.

Harden has a bad shooting game? He sucks! Beverley shoots well one game? He's a good shooter! Lin has a bad game? Trade him!

I think our PG needs to be an elite role player. I just don't think elite role players warrant superstar minutes.

His minutes need to be scaled back.

 

Felton did not work well with Knicks. In fact, they are looking at Kyle Lowry now.

He is definitely a LOH (Lin Only Hater), LOT (Lin Only Troll) or may be just want the Hakeem Status like basketballholic.

 

It's arguable whether the team would be worse without Lin (and I'm a huge Lin fan), because this team has two superstars and enough quality role players to contend. But the fact is, after next year, Houston is not going to want to pay a back-up 8.3 mil. So Lin is gone after next year, unless he's naive/stupid enough to take back-up money.

 

Yeah. This team is going to be fine whether or not they have Lin or not. They might offer Lin 4-7 mil to play back fiddle at PG....at this stage in his career I'm sure even if another team offers him the same but starter job he's going to take that.....any player with some internal fire would.
