Why do you think Morey does not want any contracts on the books besides Harden, Howard, and Chandler's cap hold beyond the Summer of 2015? Thats a good reason why you can probably forget about Thad Young, Ilyasova, or Ryan Anderson coming back in a trade next week.
Right, but you need the leverage of free agency to get a deal done beforehand. Have a hard time thinking the TPups will trade him before the deadline next year or this Summer at the earliest. If the Rockets establish their financial position to go after him in the Summer of 2015, folks around the league will start catching wind, and the Wolves will start getting a bit scared, and willing to talk. Of course the thing to watch out for is an agent change in the next year… namely eehhheemm… Dan Fegan. That will be a pretty big tell tale sign. Schwartz will probably try to persuade him to Brooklyn with D-Will & Lopez I'd guess. Not sure if they can get rid of Joe Johnson's contract in the last year though.
If Love has his agent go to the T-Wolves tomorrow night to say... "Listen, if you don't trade my guy to Houston, he WILL sign there in a year and a half in free agency. You'll never get a better trade than right now... Lin, Beverley, Asik, Parsons, Jones, Canaan, draft picks... they've got loads of great pieces and you can take your pick of them within reason. This is what's best for my client, it's what's best for your franchise. Get Morey on the phone and get it done." Do you REALLY think Minnesota says no? And do you REALLY think Love is happy with the course of that franchise?
Yes, Minnesota would say no to that deal, simply because they could get a way better offer elsewhere.
^ Timing is still very early for Love to push his way out already. If Love & his agent act too early it could cause a huge media spill over and really hurt his reputation if the Wolves hold firm for another year and 2 months… which they have fully in their right to do. In their opinion, the offers will still be very good this Summer and next February, and they will really suffer in ticket sales & media coverage if they ship off Love anytime soon. The timing is unfortunately going to be Summer to next February at the deadline. The Rockets just need to make sure they really do well with this Asik trade. Even if you have to take less talent back, make sure you are getting short term contracts, and most importantly…. draft pick intrigue…. get creative with a pick like you did the Lowry pick. Then let it be known that you are planning on making a run at Love in 2015 and let things play out on their own. (you can always send Parsons on stealth missions to work his magic as well)
I'm not sold on millsap or hawes. If they come to the rockets then ill welcome them with open arms and figure out a way to be positive about it but for know ill dream about acquiring kevin love.
I feel like Harden, Love, and Parsons would have OKC level chemistry with each other. Like BFF status.
LEBRON can happen this summer 2014 1. If morey trades for expiring deals with (Lin & asik) gone by summer 2. if we look good in playoffs in the west 3. heat don't win it all this year 4. we will be the only team with the cap room, 2 stars here already, a established playoffs team. This will be very attractive to LEBRON vs any other team if he decides to test out the waters in free agency this summer 5. Bosh, wade, Lebron can all leave this summer
