UT will remain the laughingstock of college football. Their boats is corrupt and powerless. Have fun with Mack for another year

Saban at Alabama is not a surprise and shouldn't have been to anyone who thought past a bunch of ridiculous conspiracies and rumors - it never made any sense.

But Mack staying would be a surprise and a disaster. What's even the point? Next year is rebuilding with a new QB anyway, so why not start fresh?

OK, so UT lost out on Saban. Not so bad. But if Mack stays another year then UT is a laughingstock after all of this. Why would a blue-chip recruit go to UT with Mack having one foot out the door? The effect on recruiting could be very negative.

If Mack moves on soon and they announce a new coach within a week or two, then UT marches forward.

    If this is true:

Brown had previously confided in those close to him that he was resigning, the source said. However, Brown was "enraged" when the news leaked to the media, and he decided to change course, according to the source.

That is the most ludicrous reason ever to stay. And he's going to hate his life next year when there is speculation everyday whether he's going to be gone.

That said, I tend to not believe it - I still think he's gone, but it needs to happen soon. If he's still the coach midweek next week, he's probably here for 2014.

Not only did they not get Saban, they keep that no coachin bum and not hire a capable coach to make Saban regret not taking the job. You are exactly right LAUGHINGSTOCK! No accountability anywhere.

If the program lets Mack punk them into staying then they deserve to stay mediocre. Can't get mad at Debo when folks keep giving him their chains!

I still think mack is gone, if not i'll be a very unhappy man. don't know how to feel about the whole saban thing, but the first obstacle is and remains Mack Brown.

Mack is acting like a child. I wouldn't be surprised if Saban was forced to stay after Mack started to pull stunts behind the scenes. I can't believe that much smoke was created by Saban's camp just to get a raise at Alabama.

If it turns out Mack's resistance is the reason Saban stayed at Alabama, the outrage of UT supporters will push him out the door shortly.

yeah that seems hard to believe anyone could be that stupid/petty. even though i don't hate mack like a lot of people do and think people have been overly negative for a few years (though not all that wrong), it's obviously time for him to go. if he stays next year, he'll pretty much deserve everything he gets. you can't be this oblivious to/stubborn about the perception people have of you/affect you will have on the program. everybody's time as a coach comes at some point. resign and you'll still get viewed fairly favorably. stay and the hate will be crazy.

i always thought saban was a pipe dream and most of the stories/rumors (underwater real estate?) sounded ridiculous. but i think deep down you know you got way more worried the last week than you ever thought you'd be a few months ago. hell, apparently vegas had the odds at 5 to 2 for saban to texas. i never thought the story would reach the level it did when it was first casually mentioned a few months ago.

ESPN tracker says Saban will get between $7 and $7.5M now, per Tuscaloosa News.

Chip Brown wasn't necessarily wrong. What he reported was apparently on track to happen...before Mack apparently threw his hissy fit. They're going to have to fire him.
