You sir are the idiot. You think I care about dwight getting the rebound?. No parsons should of let dwight get it. My problem is dwight not continuing to secure the ball along with parsons. They could of easily ran after it before lma or at least play defense. To me parsons is less in the wrong them dwight because he was getting yelled at and couldn't really react. Dwight should of focused on the play at hand then afterwards talked to parsons. You can't crtitsize Somone for taking his rebound which parsons prolly didn't mean to and then let Somone score on you. What type of example.
Discounting injuries, that "lottery team" was closer to the Championship than we are now. We are much more fun to watch now, but that lottery team was built for the playoffs. Give me a healthy Yao and Scola any day of the week over our front court now. Back on topic. That was a stupid thing to do by Howard. He's right to get mad, but should have protected the paint first. At least foul LMA...he appears to have time. Duncan in that situation would have bear hugged LMA and then give CP an earfull.
I completely disagree with anyone who says that Parson's should have gave Dwight the rebound. Imagine a situation where Dwight and an opposing player is going for the rebound, usually a player like Parsons can easily go in and secure the rebound while Dwight and the opposing player fight each other out. All in all, I rather have all my players fighting for the rebound, then letting each other have it. Its just a silly play where parson's was too focused on getting the board, it was not like he intentionally didn't want howard to get the rebound. Dwight should have just let it go and contested Aldridge, and tell parsons "good hustle, but communicate with me more". Because thats what leaders and winners do, they rather let the blame fall on them than their teammates. A simple situation that could have been used to empower each other turned out to be an ugly scene where Howard's selfish side shows itself. Then again, it might be a product of the frustration of not getting the ball. Howard had his man pinned down deep in the post many times but the ball never got delivered to him. Hopefully they work these things out, because these kind of things will take its toll come playoff time..just watch
Haven't read any of this thread but the first post. But I will side with Dwight every time on this. When the defensive rebound is easily Dwight's - IE there is no opposing player with the potential to take it - all Dwight needs to do is jump and catch... Every single Rockets player should be clearing a path for him. I've watched Minnesota a few times and whenever Kevin Love and insert-another-TWolves-player jump for a non-contested rebound the other player will notice Love and while they're in the air not even make a play for the ball anymore. I was annoyed at Chandler for causing that turnover. Garcia has done it before and I was annoyed at him too. To be annoyed at Dwight for trying to do his main job and he is prohibited by his teammate... That's ridiculous.
I'm on Dwight side 100% of the time on this one. Your big man gets the rebound. period. And when no one ran to recover the ball, could've been a miscommunication, they prob thought the other person is going to get it. This isn't a big deal though, so....
He probably understands that caring more about showing up your teammate than preventing the other team from scoring is pretty pathetic and was embarrassed by it, as everyone should be.
I am completely baffled by people's reaction. Parsons' going after the rebound was a miscommunication. It happens. Howard stopped playing basketball under his own basket while the opponent casually pick up the ball and lay it in is UNPROFESSIONAL. How hard is that to understand?
Hyperbolize much? Try 3 or 4 seconds. Still, I agree with part of your premise: Dwight was too busy chastising Parsons to prevent an easy basket. HOWEVER... I was at the game and can tell you that Parsons was a moody sumbitch last night. He was obviously very stiff and in pain most of the night, and I was shocked he actually returned after halftime. And grumpy, too -- he was complaining to teammates all night long. Kudos to him for playing at all, but I wouldn't put all of this one on Dwight. The Rox were a team in a nasty mood all night long, it seemed.
Parsons was wrong going for Dwight's rebound but this happens all the time in the NBA. Dwight was dead wrong in standing there arguing with Parsons while the ball was still in play. He could have easily gone up to challenge the shot. The correct professional attitude I would like to have seen would be that Dwight kept playing and after the play was finished, an acknowledgement between both Parsons and Howard, a high five and continue with the game. And yes, Harden does this too. Or sometimes stays on the ground too long after being knocked over. The maturity, team chemistry, and leadership is not there yet for this team to be considered a contender. Part of this development is the responsibility of the coaching staff.
Wow, you're as soft as this new soft generation of NBA players Big men used to do a lot worse than what Dwight did last night, Parsons deserved it. Rule of thumb for you: The Big Man ALWAYS Has Right Away In The Paint. GTFO Parsons.
The Rockets knock rebounds from each other alot, I dont think I ever seen a team do that so much, last night was a classic case, same with Jones cutting to basket same time Dwight makes a post move or Harden Drives...
Dwight and Harden both seem to be stat padding whores, they care more about their numbers than winning the actual game.
That's Dwight's rebound. He's right to be pissed, but as usual he gets all whiny and makes a scene. Always blames Lin or the refs on nonsense type stuff, which more than often are his fault. This time it wasn't, but say that in the timeout not during a live ball.
I agree... While people are right in the sense that probably the ball should have been Howard's and Parson should have backed off, the point is you don't stop hustling. Sure there was a screw up, but the ball is still live. FINISH THE PLAY. Play till the whistle, then you can fight. I really don't even mind the fighting...teammates fight, friends fight, families fight...it happens, its human nature, but please don't stop playing. However, I see a lot of this in the NBA these days, whether its too many divas in this game or just how people are these days. I see players quit on plays cause their teammates screwed up or they didn't get the ball or the ref didn't give them a whistle. And I don't mean just the Rockets, but I used to see it a few years ago with the Warriors when they had SJax, Baron Davis, and Ellis...always jawing at the officials or quitting on plays cause it didn't go well or with Melo on the Knicks or KD. Its quite frustrating to see and makes me dislike basketball more and more. Maybe I'm getting old, but teams felt more like teams and players looked like they were working harder. That's why I used to like Yao, Battier, Scola, Landry...always brought effort even if the team wasn't so great. That's why I respect Duncan and the Spurs a lot. I just hope Dwight, Harden, Parsons, Lin and others mature quickly and realize they have the chance to something special if they just give their complete effort in this. This is one of the reasons I like Beverly actually, he's 100% effort even if his skillset is not so great. No I'm not a Bev > Lin fan I do think Lin is better skillwise...I just love the hustle and effort Bev gives. He can airball all he wants as long as he gives me his 100% every night. End of rant
