You mean Hakeem Olajuwon, the center that other teams actually double-teamed? The three point shot and ball movement after the kick out was a critical aspect of those championship years.

We're not seeing that here because the smart teams are refusing to double Howard.

Howard played great, end of story.

It's nice that we have that post-up tool that we didn't have last year. Still, it's not our best tool and should be used sparingly. We overused it today, given our significant shortage of threes, near the basket field goals, and free throws.

Thank you! Anyone that claims we lost becuz dwight played great is crazy! I question whether some of them watched the game because they did double dwight on some of those possessions

Which is exactly why Dwight need to score on the post like he did today. They started doubling him at the end of the game.

That further shows why they went to the post and why you need to have a dominant post presence. There wasn't a shortage of 3's taken, but instead a shortage of the number made, and with no midrange game, that, excluding put backs, leaves attacking the basket, post-up, and PnR. With Parsons playing like he did, Bev with a limited offensive game, and Lin coming off an injury and playing 15 minutes with 4 shot attempts, 2 of which were at the 3 pt. line, that leaves only Harden attacking, and guess what dude, as spectacular as he is attacking, he ain't lebron, especially when teams start noticing he's the only one on the team capable of doing so. So that inevitably leads to post-ups, and guess what, it was working.

I hate Howard post-ups, but I must admit his was stellar tonight, and as such was NOT a contribution to the loss, but rather a saving grace.

WRONG! You can still get ball and player movement while using post play.

It is funny how Howard finally plays well in the post and people try to find a negative way to spin it.

Our offense lives and dies by the 3. Portland ran us off of the 3 point line so those extra points went with it.

The problem with the offense is the offense. It won't beat the best teams 4 out of 7 times.

Howard played great last night. I hope he keeps up and not just do it once every 3 or 4 games.

My only complaint about him for last night's game was his standing there glaring at Parsons rather than playing defense after Parsons accidentally screwed up his rebound. That was unprofessional antic.
