The coaches know Swoopes is terrible. He can't throw whatsoever and isn't ready for game play. The coaches knew this by watching him practice all year long. Another wasted scholarship.
RGIII, Andrew Luck and Johnny Cash all grow up within 2.5 hours of Austin, Rapist Winston desperately wanted to go to UT-Austin branch, and meanwhile Herp Derp Case McCoy is the starting QB. Talk about incompetence.
Rumors were that Manziel wanted Texas as well. They have had so many QBs come in and compete for spots. That might be a problem. They won't commit to a few recruits. They bring them in in bulk That being said, I don't think any QB left texas and lit it up on their new team. Ash was having a decent couple games. Good TD-INT ratio. Sucks. I can't say this for sure but I don't think any of the conference winners played almost the whole year with their backup QB. Jerrod-Heard looks like a good pickup. Another dual threat QB.
I think he should have played more - especially in the Baylor game when Case was doing nothing at all - but I don't think the red shirt was a waste. It let us see what he could do this year instead of going into next season with a complete unknown. And if he is the starting QB next year, he got at least a little game experience to get his feet wet. The only way it really hurts is if he otherwise would have been our QB in 2017 (most scenarios that result in this aren't great). Otherwise, there's no harm done.
Is Saban's appeal in recruiting is that he is a no-nonsense work hard coach that will push and keep athletes in check? Mack was always the grandpa that will support and watch over the kids. Worked for a while....
yeah if (and in my opinion, when) Saban comes in, Spring is going to be very interesting. He'll see what he has in Swoopes, but it won't be much, not enough to start. I'll bet he hits the trail hard to find a suitable QB, either an early enrollee or a juco player. I wish we could get Baker Mayfield, but that wouldn't work since he's in conference
a couple of insiders have mentioned a new QB transferring in (it's not mayfield). Six gators (wow!) are transferring and one of them is Freshman 6'5" Pro-Style QB Max Staver. Could this be the guy? no idea if he's a fit or if he'd have to sit out a year
...just relaying stuff I read on texas forums. figured Texas fans, which you are not, would be interested to know
not always, but point taken...but still the fact remains we're going to need a QB. I think we might also look at a graduate option. Might work as a stopgap
McMurphyESPN: Mack Brown set to visit recruit in Houston in early AM, source told @ESPN. Unknown if meeting w/Prez & AD before/after trip Pretty sure Mack is just trying to avoid Austin at this point so he can avoid getting fired.
