I dont understand what you classify as elite? Is he the best in the league.... no. Is he still really, really good, and only going to get better???... yes. The real question that I'm sure will get brought up here sooner or later is Is Lillard better than X player who just so happens to play for the Rockets??
Lin: Lin Elite: CP3, Parker Super Star: D rose (when healthy), Westbrook, Curry, Rondo All-star: Irving, Lillard, Wall, D Will (Falling off quick) Ty Lawson Good: Mike Conley, Jrue Holiday, Ricky Rubio ..... ... .. . Norris Cole
Boy people are really starting to overrate Portland. Lillard isn't elite, and Lamrcus Aldridge isn't an MVP candidate. Weak schedule and hot shooting. They do bring it every night, I'll give them that. Like the 08 Rockets team that won 22 in a row. It wins a lot of regular season games, but in the playoffs everybody brings it.
I really hope it doesn't end up becoming a Lin debate. I just want to know based on his stats and play, does he deserve to be called an "elite X 2 point guard?" What has he done to deserve that label? CP3, Parker, Rondo, Curry are elite Pgs imo. To me Lillard is more like a Jennings or Ellis type and may always be at this level.
That is only due to age, I saw him wear down last year in the finals, which would've never happened before. I'm basing on current skill set only, not historic, if it was historic, Parker would EASILY be tier 1.
I agree with this completely. I see Wall joining Super Star status in few years and Lillard/Irving/Lawson staying at all-star status. I wouldn't rule out D Will though. If he gets his ankles better, he will join Super Star status again.
You need to watch how good he is playing this compared to other pg's. He's right their with CP3 again
Lillard IS NOT in range with Tony Parker. I give you Kyrie though, because Kyrie is having a bad year so far.
Watch the guy in the 4th quarter, he is flat out clutch and misses almost nothing. He has been a Rockets killer in the past eating JLin alive on the court last season and he did the same thing to Dallas a few nights ago even though Dallas ended up winning the game. He may go quite for a couple of quarters and he may not make his shots as much in the 1st few quarters but if the Blazers are down or it's crunch time in a close game, Lillard is flat out money. Almost half of his shots are 3 pointers and he is hitting almost 42% of those. Add that to the fact that he gets to the free throw line almost 6 times a game and hits over 90% of those and that is a clutch stat in itself. Lillard's ability to turn it up a couple of levels during crunch time is amazing IMO. If you watch him, you know he is elite.
I said yes. I feel like in some cases you can't worry about stats and this is one of those guys. He plays GREAT defense, controls the tempo really well, can hit the clutch shot, has a killer 3pt shot, hits his fts. And this is only his second year. Only people I'd definitely put above him are CP3, Parker, Rose (when healthy), Westbrook and Parker. And actually, when he plays against those guys he performs at a high level usually.
Elite heh. Elite and "great", maybe the most overused/misused word in sports. Elite QB! Elite player! Elite PG! Elite this! Elite that! Everyone is elite!! How many elite players are there in the NBA?
Who was this moron a few days ago saying D-Will was done.....did you see him just break chris paul's ankles to end the first half and nail that floater? He's outplaying CP3 tonight, and I still think a healthy D Will is on par with CP3
When did I say D-Will was done? I said he was falling and he has been. He used to be an MVP candidate in Utah and now he's not even All-Star material. D-Will 13 points 1 assist 1 rebound CP3 14 points 1 assist 2 rebounds Right, D-Will is clearly outplaying CP3. I'm the moron who can't read a box score. D-Will has made some nice plays this game, but what I said in my previous post was that consistency makes you elite. He had a good game against Boston and a good first half here. D-Will for MVP!
If Kyrie Irving & Russel Westbrook are considered elite, then Lillard certainly is. I think Lillard is better than either of those two, outright. Chris Paul is still a cut above any of them, and what "elite" really means is subjective, but as a top 5 PG I put Lillard in that air.
