Lol a lot of people say that 8 boys 9 girls. I'm from the Caribbean (Tobago of Trinidad & Tobago) family didn't have a tv till maybe a 5 years before I was born (in '85). My family is huge but very close knit, never went without a meal, and well respected in the village. I miss my grandmother dearly she woke up one morning complaining of pain and then the next day she was gone it's still very fresh in my memory and is hard to deal with. I really feel for Kevin I fear the day I will lose my mother, if there's anyone close to being a superwoman in my eyes it would be her.
Terrible losing both your mother and daughter within a year span. Couldn't imagine. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't come back for a while, however i think coaching is what keeps him motivated and positive, so i don't think he would give it up.
I wish Kevin McHale much on-court success after these tragedies. It won't make up for these huge losses in any way, but he is deserving of some positive accomplishments coming his way.
I'm one of the few McHale as coach supporters, but it's hard to see how/why he stays with this team after 2 immediate family members have passed. Very sad.
Y'all pray for my family we lost my grandma 3 months ago, looks like I'm about to lose my grandfather also
I lost my grandmother and dad 3 weeks apart from each other. Its tough. Condolences to you and your family.
Let's dedicate the Blazer game to Josephine P. McHale, the mother of Coach Kevin McHale. Rockets, playing your hearts out and praying for the McHale family! Go Rockets!
Condolences to Mchale's family. Two deaths within a year is more than anyone should have to endure. On a side note, let's hope our boys can make him proud tonight..Go Rockets!
Man its gotta be a rough time for McHale. I had a bad year in 2011 with people passing, it was a bad year for my family and I so I know the feeling when stuff like this happens. Stuff like this stays with people for years, its amazing that he has stayed in the NBA. Shows how much he loves the game. I hope our Rockets play hard tonight.
Tough to lose a close family member, let alone two in roughly one year. Best wishes to the Coach and his family. By the way, the late Mrs. McHale's maiden name was Starcevich. She was Croatian American. Her half of the Kevin McHale gene pool is probably where the basketball talent comes from.
I think there are a lot of mchale as coach supporters. They just don't post on this site. Its typical for some fans to always blame everything no matter what on the coach. If you dig through this site there are fire adelman/vangundy/rudy t threads also. As for returning to coaching, I don't see how he could quit on the team. I believe a person like mchale probably needs coaching more than ever now. He'll be back within 2 weeks for sure. Imagine how emotional he'll be if we win the championship. He needs this.
Basketball is a wonderful outlet and helps you cope. I can't remember how many times I had a problem and the first thing I would do was go outside and shoot a couple of hoops. It really is a tragedy, but mchale will do what he feels is best. Its not for us to decide how he should be spending his times.
