Tom Cruise is gonna age like Paul McCartney. It won't be very graceful unfortunately. This looks like a good movie and a good role that should have been given to a younger actor.

    Been there done that?

Seems like source code mixed in with elysium, but does look good.

Cruise just isn't the draw he once was. I agree with poster before me this role should have went to a much younger actor.

Can't wait! I love science fiction (I'm sure that shocks everyone) and also think that Mr. Cruise is a highly underrated actor. Don't believe that last bit? See his performance in Magnolia. Check out his work in War of the Worlds. The dude can act. Emily Blunt's not too shabby herself.

This is a perfect vehicle for a veteran actor like Mr. Cruise. What young actor could be this convincing? Joseph Gordon Levitt? That Thor guy, what?

Those movies came out 8 to 15 years ago. Don't you get tired of seeing the same intense facial expressions? I'll probably still go bc it looks interesting, but Cruise's last sci-fi piece was disappointing.

You make "8 to 15 years ago" sound like forever! If I see Cruise in a film I enjoyed, I don't ponder how many times he's used a particular facial expression. Heck, one could use that argument against pretty much every actor in the business. What matters to me is if I enjoyed the flick. I enjoyed Oblivion. Did I find it groundbreaking and just awesome in general? No, but I enjoyed it.

I am a big Tom Cruise fan. I think the last few movies he did were very underrated, especially Jack Reacher. His movies are normally pretty entertaining. There aren't too many movies that he has done that I really hated, except Magnolia.

I am looking forward to this one.

Doh, just realized there were two threads for this.

I like the vast majority of his movies too, even though I think he's a complete loon. Jack Reacher was awesome, did you see they are making a sequel? My favorite movie of the year was probably Oblivion, loved the visuals and the score by M83.

Yeah, I just saw the news about the sequel. I will definitely watch it. Hopefully it'll be as good as the first one.

The cute robot voice really adds to the drama and sense of dread.

The edge of tomorrow only exists as the walkway of today.

Not every man really walks toward today...but every man edges toward tomorrow.

That's the thing - veteran actors don't need star vehicles / blockbusters to propel them to stardom.

Even though he's mainly known for comedy, I could see Chris Pratt (Parks and Rec) doing well in this role.
