I won't be surprised if Rockets trade Lin away, they did before, might do it again, just can help repeat the stupidity like the Lin haters on the forum.

The idea of trading Lin away for an expiring contract being just a trash trade is a trash idea. For instance....IF Orlando were interested and wanted Lin and they were willing to give up Hedo's contract...then you could conceivably work a 3-way with Charlotte sending Hedo off to Charlotte and sending Ben Gordon back to the Rockets. Charlotte might want to do the deal to save the dough. They can cut Hedo and save about $7 million...or they could flip Hedo themselves for something useful.

So...bottom line if Lin (and Smith or Covington) were traded for Ben Gordon...that's not a trash trade. It's a trade for a player that is overpaid on the last year of his deal but he has proven to be a quality NBA shooter/scorer. Gordon has proven he can light it up and score 20-25 points in a quarter. That's not trash. It's simply a trade for a player that has a more desirable contract, that could be just as effective as Lin but that could also be flipped at the deadline for 25% more salary than his $13.2 million. That could be an important contract if you have to take back a bad contract to get a guy like Love or Melo or Deron Williams or some other superstar player on a team that wants to rebuild quickly.

The above is just an example of the type of trade that I think Lin is going out on. He's going out for more salary coming back in....but probably better arranged salary with players or picks that will be easier to move at the deadline.

Gordon? No thank you Jimbo. I like the Granger idea as he is a good wing defender and a twenty plus scorer when healthy.EItherway he comes off the books at seasons end and gives up. Significant cap space. The Pacers don't really need Lin as Hill and CJ Watson is a nice combo and Granger is better then Lin.

Yes, but they could use another wing defender/scorer behind George/Stephenson. So what if Orlando was willing to take Lin for Afflalo and then we could send Afflalo and Brewer to Indy for Granger/Sloan. Same thing. Useful player...a fit....but flippable.

Another example of the type of deal I think Morey has lined up for Lin.

And like I said originally...If I had to speculate on a specific deal I'm still speculating that Milwaukee has Ilyasova on the table for Lin. If they throw in Udoh or Ridnour (another useful player to take Lin's place) then I think that's another trade adding salary and a useful player but flippable.

I rather keep Affalo and have him as a supersub then a half season Granger rental even if he comes off the books..It's a moot point because Affalo is the Magics defacto franchise player and they would want way more then Lin to be enticed to deal Affalo. The Magic are begging teams to take Jameer Nelson off their hand as well.

When he broke onto the scene, the Knicks suddenly discovered the type of ball they wanted to play. Lin suddenly didn't "fit" the team anymore.

When he came to the Rockets, he helped bring this team back to relevance, and now suddenly doesn't exactly "fit" the team anymore.

Bottom line: Lin is one of the best players that a struggling team can add in order to crystallize their problems (i.e., to better understand how they play, and what they really want). He's a walking NBA diagnostic.

I don't see Lin being traded this year.

However, next year -- yes I do see him getting traded. Next year is the final year of his contract and I really don't see him re-signing with the Rockets.

I don't know why I think that but I do.

So I would assume that Morey would flip him next season so he can get something of value before Lin walks away.

But if he does get traded, I like the #4 suggestion the best - I really like Boozer and Deng.

He helped bring this team to relevance?. I think Harden, Asik and Parsons had a hand in that to.

How about Lin won't be traded at all. He is a vital part of the team. He is continuing to improve. He is part of the Rockets, a big part. I really enjoy watching him play, especially when he goes to the basket.

Parsons has been playing for the Rockets the longest. He obviously wasn't getting it done with the players that were here before.

you are witch hunting again... the guy said Lin helped means there are others too...

he did not say single-handedly brought the team to relevance...

Lin will only be traded if it makes cap room for a third star. Outside of that, Lin with Beverly is a point guard combination that I really like.

Really in his first season as a rookie dude outplayed Chase Budinger and became a starter. That Rockets team was on the verge of the playoffs with far inferior talent then what Lin and Harden had but a massive losing streak in the last few games handed Utah the 8th spot.

McHale identifies with Parsons so Parson will naturally be given heavy minutes and will always be given how very much time bus needed of play out of slumps without fear of being benched. It happens at every level. You can actually see the exact same thing occurring with the Knicks with Mike Woodson and JR Smith. In a lot of ways a coach with just identify with a player and use that player as an avatar on the court.

It makes sense if you think about it that's way. Would you bench yourself? Of course not you would give yourself free reign and all the playing time you need to get going.

Really, so him outplaying Budinger had nothing to do with it? He earned his starting spot. Infact Parsons had a better training camp then Chase but McHale kept Chase as a starter until Parsons play warranted him to start. He gave Chase every opportunity.

Demand for PG's is at its all time low. No way we are getting anything significant for Lin.

Stand PAT and trade Asik for any of: wing defender, backup center, and/or draft pick.

So do you really think he's getting shipped out?
