Lin, accidental All-star starter?

No, I am not insinuating that Jeremy Lin, despite good play so far this season, deserves an all-star nomination. I'm just wondering if his Chinese base will vote him in similar to how the Yao Effect helped out so many of our players in the past for all-star voting. I don't know if Jeremy is as popular as Yao was in China or not, but it does seem like a possibility.

Also, if the "Yao Effect" has been passed on and transformed into the "Lin Effect" then will see the possibility of Chandler Parsons contending for a starting spot? Should Lin or Parsons, if voted as a starter, keep their all-star spot or do the right thing and give it to someone else more deserving?

I believe Harden has a very good chance of making the starter spot but if Kobe gets to even 70% back, his pre-existng popularity in U.S. and China will probably get him the spot, even if James gets better numbers/plays better.

    What d'yall think?

    Disclaimer:
(Jeremy's base could just be more taiwanese than anything so this thread might just be a waste of time, lock if that's the case)

That was before the Asian Tour. Every country In Asia covered his tour. Lin is one of the top five most famous people in Asia.

Why should any one in China care about Lin? He is an American. You do realize that people vote for Yao because he was a star in China BEFORE he joined NBA, right? And you do know that Asian is not one ethnic group right?

If they vote him in, it's not accidental. That's different from deserved.

I doubt the Lin effect will benefit Parsons. Base on what I've read in basketball forums in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Lin's fans has been saying that Parsons betrayed Lin and leaned towards Howard and Harden and Harden has bullied Lin. They are not going to vote for Parsons and Harden.

They don't want to hear real truth.

They forget Yao was also a franchise player, while Lin is barely a back up.

If Lin is still with the Knicks, I think he has a better chance of getting voted or chosen. The East doesn't have a lot of good guards. But in the west, I'd say the chance is slim.

Lin won't be on the All-Star team.

    Guaranteed.

It would be so awesome if all the Rockets' nominees get voted into the All-star starting line. Come on, Red Nation! Get it done! Vote!

I love my team but it's disrespectful the great PGs like Paul and Parker in the west to just put Lin in there.

This is true and I can see how it would be genuinely unfair, but as a Rockets fan I must say... F-ck those guys! Vote for Lin!

Hate the system not the players. Everyone knows all-star voting is a popularity contest and yes, no one would be surprised if Lin starts.
