I know you're a little upset that Jamaal Charles fractured his ankle this morning and that Gordon has a high ankle sprain and is in a boot, but it's gonna be ok bruh!

Saban: current open in right now in the nfl. My info this afternoon is UT is not the only group in TX that wants Saban, Texans as well.

    David Nuño ‏@DavidNunoABC13 12m

Finbaum just said he is hearing the #Texans are interested in Saban.

(Sports reporter for Eyewitness Sports, #ABC13 KTRK-TV in Houston)

Nick Saban is in TX today...just not Austin. Meets w/ 5-star CB Tony Brown in about 10 minutes. http://bit.ly/1bxVr5y

    Houston Texans want Saban.

They've seen Saban's track record in the NFL. So my best guess is they won't be trying very hard for Saban.

I like what Saban did in the NFL. And he never really gave it much of a chance to develop into anything. I'm not sure who was doing the drafting and free agent signings though, that aspect of Saban's tenure sucked. But he got a lot out of inferior talent and even made a grown man cry (that's awesome).

Parcel's came in and his regime got off to a quick start using outdated alignments and pee-pee game tactics (wildcat). Made Saban's tenure look even better IMO.

With that said, I don't think Saban would be interested and I don't think the Texans can sensibly outbid the Longhorns (what a world).

    Me, too.

The only caveat is that we need to see how the year plays out. Do they continue to play hare and is Rick acting reasonably civil. If Rick starts putting players in the doghouse and more players who have received playing time so far transfer than it is time for him to go. In addition he needs to recruit a top 20 player in either this year or next to show he can still recruit big time players.

Yep, that is why I mentioned Myles Turner. Turner would give UT a star player AND fill the need of a good SF/PF. Ridley, Taylor, Turner, and Holmes would be a decent (Top 25) lineup next year, assuming they all improve.

Question: what would be the impact of Nick Saban on the immediate recruiting landscape? Do you think recruits from Alabama, Texas A&M, etc. would follow him to Texas?

I know Nick Saban would never accept a job at NFL level again. Unless they give him power over EVERYTHING.

That's why I fear for Texas getting Saban. How much power are they willing to give him? Powers and Patterson need to get on board with Saban and stop fretting over Mack. **** Mack Brown.

I don't think every recruit follows Saban to Texas (speaking hypothetically). I do think a handful of recruits would follow Saban to Texas. Obviously, the big question is how many.

I'm sure a few would, no doubt, but people thinking that Saban would instantly turn tons of highly ranked recruits over to Texas just because of his presence will be disappointed. Alabama recruits could be turned off by the fact that he just left them after recruiting them to Alabama, or Texas A&M recruits could be there because of their relationship with Sumlin and don't really care about Saban. This applies to other schools as well. But once again, the Saban factor would get a few to reconsider at the very least.

Again, its not the name of the school that is as important as the coach that is running it. it would be stupid to think that none of the top blue chip recruits would not even think about joining Saban at UT just because they already committed to "alabama".

LOL you not even read what I said? When did I ever say "none" of the blue chippers would "not even think about joining Saban"? C'mon now...

I simply said that Saban's presence at Texas will not sway tons of recruits. It's almost a guarantee that some would follow him. Some recruits would surely go to or consider Texas, some would simply cross off Alabama and look at the other schools they were considering, and some would stay at Alabama. I think that much is obvious.

    Nick Saban in Beaumont TX?

The only logical conclusion is that he's going to be the next head coach of the Fightin' Lamar Cardinals.
