At this point I don't think Goran improves our team that much since we have a very similar player in Lin and Harden still needs time to learn to play off the ball a bit, which is essential for Lin (or Goran) in order to play with him and still be effective. What this trade does? - it takes away our backup C. We still have Smith, but Asik is much better. - may break up the chemistry Phoenix built this season and sends the young players in need of development to the bench - if chemistry works, it makes them too good and they don't reach the goal for the season (top5 pick)
Dragic V Lin Dragic has a personality of a piece of wood Parsons/everyone loves Lin. Lin does not complain like cancer Lowry trading Lin will destroy team chemisty
Dragič's been put into a position where he can put up great numbers. I'm a big fan of him and one of the reasons I wanted him to stay on Rockets is to see if he's got what it takes to play on a championship contender. Rockets from two seasons ago and this year's Phoenix are not a championship contender, but they are (were) using a system where Dragič thrives - R&G with lots of spacing and transition. I guarantee you Lin would thrive in systems like this too - he proved it during Linsanity. However I'm giving a slight nod to Dragič over Lin right now because I think Goran's defense is better.
Currently it's 23.5% (18 games). 2012 (PHX): 21.7% (77 games) 2011 (HOU): 21.8% (66 games) He's currently at 57th place in usage rate, just behind Zach Randolph, Griffin and Al Jefferson. He's 24th in PER though. Bledsoe is 22th in PER. Dragic is playing 34.9 minutes/game. For comparison: Jeremy's PER is 18.82 and usage rate of 21.2% (Brooks is 21.3%). However in New York, Jeremy's Usage rate was 27.6% and PER was 19.97.
I don't want to take anything from his great performance yesterday, but D'antoni's teams were never famous for defense. Glad though he's so confident with his shot. He improved on it greatly and broke out as a decent shooter in our Eurobasket and then continued in PHX this season.
men, i wish lin had the ability to go off on people for 31 points and get to the line as much as a top 8 pg. geez, people. dragic isn't doing anything that lin hasn't been doing or that both dragic and lin did to each other last year. they look o.k.
The thing about Dragic is that he plays better defense than Lin and he is taller, so he has an easier time matching up against shooting guards. Overall that makes him the better player in my opinion. Now, would I trade Asik for Gogi straight up? No, because Dragic is redundant on this team... however, if you are trading Lin or Beverley as well, then maybe. Depends on what we are getting back.
What? How is Dragic taller? Dragon is 6'3" 190 lbs and Lin is 6'3" 200 lbs. Are you talking about wingspan or some other facet when saying Dragic is taller?
Dragic is listed at 6'4" and Lin is listed at 6'3". Dragic also has longer arms (subjective impression since they don't do combine measurements for Euro players).
I thought Dragic was listed at 6'3" too. Either way i'm not sure how much of a difference half an inch to one inch at most makes esp when they are both bigger than majority of the point guards.
Don't know from when those measurements are, all the recent ones have him at 194 cm, which is 6'4 3/8. http://www.eurobasket2013.org/si/ci....season_2013.roundID_8722.playerID_46941.html http://www.kzs.si/tekmovanja-in-projekti/reprezentance/clani/2013/priprave-2013/11-goran-dragic/ He's been playing excellent basketball this year, despite having to compromise his game by being regulated to off ball sg position.
