10 new apps supported by chromecast, including Plex! edit: requires a paid plexpass membership for now... http://chrome.blogspot.com/2013/12/new-chromecast-apps-for-holidays.html http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/chromecast/apps.html
http://www.plexapp.com/ allows you to easily stream your media to a variety of devices including android/iOS and Roku.
Finally, some Plex compatibility. I have Plex built-in to my TV, but it's very limited. It's nice to see Chromecast supporting this now. Very easy to use to play media from your computer/server to your TV in most formats.
A reply by plex to a Google play review says it requires plex pass while in preview mode, then will become free for everyone. I'll wait till its free. I have no desire to pay, since plex is awesome on my logitech revue.
I'm not too familiar with plex but the app for mobile devices only plays content from your plex server correct? It won't be able to stream content from your mobile device to the chromecast will it?
The ability to stream Youpron and the like has been there from the getgo. You just have to use the Chrome browser on a PC/laptop to do so. Rumors are they will allow you to stream it from an Android phone in the next update.
I had heard that when it first hit, but then I heard they took that ability back so they could just associate Chromecast with Google services. So where's the button? On Youtube and Pandora the 'CAST' option is within the AP. I don't see any option on my Chrome browser on my phone or PC. *edit* https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/2998338?hl=en
Phone doesn't have it, yet. PC you just need to download the Chromecast add-on and the cast button will show at top right. Then you can cast whatever page you're surfing. I've tried it with pr0n so I know for sure it works.
yeah, I just saw it work, big ol' tata's on the home TV "cast this tab" man I love this modern electronic world.
Tried out the Avia app and it was able to stream local content on my tablet but most of mine didn't have audio. Might work with MP4's or AVIs but most of my MKVs did not work.
Question..not sure if it has been asked Instead of plugging Chromecast into an HDMI port on a TV can it be plugged into an HDMI port on a home theater system which then goes to the TV via HDMI?
