This year? Not really. Unless he had a strong showing under pressure against MSU.

The Big10 this year is as bad as the Pac12 was through most of the 2000's. Bridgewater is just too good for the AAC, which makes it difficult to know how good he really is. UCF was his biggest test this year, and he didn't look great in the second half of that one.

    Yep.. I agree.

I'm not sure there is a conference outside of the SEC or PAC12 where I'd be like "wow, look at the defenses he's facing".

Schaub should be given another chance.

    You mean:

Schaub should be given his 20th chance.

What game were you watching. He went 12-18, of the 6 incomplete passes 2 were dropped 1 was tipped and 1 was the last play of the game, a 60 yard hail mary that was kind of impressive. He only threw one bad pass in the entire second half that I saw, on 3rd and 5 he lead his receiver but that even looked like it might have been a wrong route by the receiver. But don't believe me see for yourself.

I'm not saying he looked bad, but it wasn't the marquee moment of the season like it could have been. That's the kind of game you want to see a potential #1 pick put the team on his back.

I watched the game, and he looked great in the first half. In the 2nd, I remember the RB going to work early. After the LOU fumble, UCF was coming back on them and the next few drives stalled quickly. UCF got the lead. Bridgewater stuck to passes under 15 yrds for the most part. He had 1 completion over 15 yards in that half. It came on a 4th quarter drive before a pass intereference bailed them out on 4th down, leading to the last TD.

He may have completed a high percentage of passes, but it wasn't an impressive 2nd half.

Everything is hyperbole with you. You've claimed this kid is a sure top 5 NFL QB, but wanting him to see step up in the biggest game of the season is asking for miracles.

You say this while lobbying for Clowney... Hmmmm, need I remind you he has 3 sacks on the season?

The double standard that you spit is comical.

Without a 1st tier QB, drafting Clowney is a fast track to the mediocrity treadmill.

In the long run, you aren't going to be a contending team without a top QB, and with the exception of the one anomaly that everybody knows, your ability to draft a competent QB goes down exponentially as you get past the top of the first round.

We could easily spend second and third round picks every year for the next decade on QB's, and it would be entirely reasonable to assume a reasonable chance that those 10 2nd rounders and 10 3rd rounders wouldn't net a single competent NFL starting caliber QB.

QB is the most important position in football. We all know that. A good QB has the ability to affect the the win total to a much greater degree than another pass rusher. If people don't think Bridgewater will be a good QB, fine, but we need to find one some way. And drafting one in the 2nd or 3rd likely isn't going going to be the solution. It can be, but it probably won't. I've said it before, if the Texans aren't sold enough on any QB to spend the #1 pick on them then I hope they don't draft a QB at all. If the Texans don't think Bridgewater is the answer then it's hard to see why they would think guys like McCarron or Boyd would be.

    Agree with this!

Agree with all but whats in bold... if are not confident in Teddy I think we should trade down and get multiple picks and spend at least one of them on a QB, I dont want to go into next year with a new coach and Case Keenum as our only option.

And if they can't? Would you be comfortable in investing 4 years in one of the guys likely to be available in the 2nd or 3rd?

I'm not comfortable with other QBs projected in the first like Carr and Manziel. Bortles is an intriguing prospect if he slips to the 2nd, but I wouldn't spend a first on him and that's where mocks are starting to project him now.

It's easy to say we should trade down, but it's actually harder to make that happen in reality.

im just saying you should never take a defensive player number 1 and you should never pick a player you are not 100% sure about, so if Teddy Bridgewater isnt our guy there is no point in having that #1 pick... and if any team is sold on Bridgewater they would jump at the shot of adding that "franchise QB" so there could be a bidding war.

but i think drafting a QB is a must this year, we need Case to have competition other than Schaub.

false Winston is the best qb prospect since John Elway

listen to what Mel Kiper and Todd Mcshay said about him

If we had the number 1 pick next year it would be worth way more than the RG3 trade
