I would trade away asik for ersan. We see what he can do last year. And he's in a buy low situation right now
We need a Chandler Parson type player to run with the 2nd unit and replace Parsons when he is injured. Niether Casspi or Garcia are effective replacing him. We also need the replacement if we are unable to resign Bang!! Who is out there at the 3 spot, stretch 2?
You don't want to put Jones on Durant or George. He's just too slow to guard these guys. On the other hand, T. Young will give you a better option, which is why I suggested this in the other thread. Affalo would be perfect, but we're not getting him unless it's a 3 team trade. The Magic already have their future center and don't need Asik.
I definitely want a decent back up 5 along with a good perimeter defender and/or picks or expiring. I think the Rockets are in win now mode so unless they get a coveted mid to lottery pick, I would say they go after anything that helps the roster now. I don't think and I don't want them to look at replacement starting fours because T-Jones has proved to be worth keeping. But we could use some perimeter defense who can shoot the ball, Courtney Lee anyone? But if Asik leaves, I definitely want a back up center in any deal. D-Mo isn't going to cut it defensively and we will see about Smith when he comes back.
Just wanted to point out the distribution in this poll. Lowest of 7 choices at 8% and highest at 22%. This may be the most evenly distributed poll on clutchfans ever.
Millsap or Deng are my personal favorites, but I have a feeling whatever deal goes down will be a LOT more complex than any simple player-for-player trade that us armchair GM's concoct on the ESPN Trade Machine. That's simply not DM's style.
I'd be fine with trading Asik for a decent first round pick and/or prospect with the intention to then swap that haul for someone better later on in theory. I'm not just not so sure it's the overly smart thing to do -- just hoping a marque PF (or PG) that fits the Rockets roster/system becomes available at the deadline. So... out of the seemingly available players that Asik could fetch in a trade, I'd prefer Millsap myself. I think he's the best fit among all those guys. Good feel for the game, good shot selection, good passer, solid rebounder, above average on D, can play/guard multiple positions, fits an up-tempo system, good ball-handler for a big, can push it up the floor himself and create for himself or others when guys close out hard on him, reliable jump-shot, has range out to the 3-point line, doesn't need plays to get run for him. Just a good basketball player. I very much enjoy watching Thad Young and I do see the appeal for him. I just think Millsap is a bit more well-rounded and a better fit for this Rockets team. If Dwight had 3-point range like Spencer Hawes does -- thus allowing Young to do his thing in the paint -- I may I prefer Young, but Dwight's range obviously is very limited and I wouldn't be totally comfortable relying on Thad Young to knock down open jumpers when defenses decide to key in on Harden and Dwight. Similar feelings about Terrence Jones, who IMO is still a bit too much up and down. I'd honestly be surprised if Morey were to simply roll with him. The time to win is now, not next year or two years from now. There's little time for much further player development and I just don't think you can totally trust Jones (yet).
I think we need a stretch 4 - either Anderson or the dude from the Bucks. Milsap isn't a proven 3 point threat - but he is a decent jump shooter. So I'd say he would be 3rd. Our offense is predicated on spacing, who creates the most space for us and then adds value from there - that's really the question to me.
But we need more than one power forward. Parsons and Casspi are really small forwards, so I think we could use another solid power forward. I don't think the Rockets believe DMo can play PF.
The solution to that is that you trade Jones with Asik. That's going to get a fantastic return, but I'd rather not trade Jones. Love his upside.
I didn't put much thought into it, so I didn't think about fit. If Jones was a problem for moving Asik you wouldn't have trouble moving Jones as well. Both players are have good upside. As I said before, I do not want to trade Jones though, so I'd only do it for a star to superstar level player.
I want Ersan Ilyasova and Larry Sanders For Asik,Dmo and brewer. I hate Dmo go but seems like jones got the spot already and we barely using him. He is just a bench warmer and mchale doesn't seem to give him a chance. That's the only one I'd hate to see go but I think we need a back up too for dwight. I wouldn't want brewer to go either he has show some good defense on the limited time he has play but if Asik isn't playing for us and we can get these to guys I'll be fine with it.
