When the deck was shuffled, Whisenhunt chose which cards to use. Certainly I did not mean to imply that Whisenhunt could control who chose to retire or who was injured or how many QB's were available to draft.

Whisenhunt sat at the table and had the cards dealt to him like everyone else, but he choose how to play the hand he was dealt. The GM didn't sign Derek Anderson, and tell Whisenhunt after the fact that he was going to be his starting QB.

Why is so everyone so hyped about this guy, Kubiak has better winning percentage then him and like I said in the other thread the only reason why AZ went to the superbowl under him because of Warner's hot surge in the playoff.

I think the credit has been given to McCoy already in this thread. I think the Chargers resurgence should be given more to the system installed by McCoy, even if Whisenhunt is the play caller.

The Chargers were coming into the year with what was supposed to be one of the worst offensive lines in the league. McCoy planned around this and Rivers doesn't hold onto the ball too long like he did under Norv's vertical system. When Whisenhunt had a horrible OL for his Cards, he couldn't adjust and Kolb/Skelton was the most sacked QB in 2012.

Are Kolb and Skelton even in the NFL anymore. Can't blame Whisenhunt on those guys. They are kind of pathetic and can't even find backup jobs. If he had Carson Palmer his team would have faired much better.

Based on this thread, Whisenhunt is the one that hand picked Kolb and Skelton.

Kolb was the starter in Buffalo but suffered a severe concussion (his like, 10 billionth) and was put on IR. Skelton is a 3rd stringer for the Titans.

Whisenhunt did pick them both. Although Skelton was a much smaller investment (5th round).

Kolb's record in Arizona was 7-8 with a QBR of 83.6 playing behind the most atrocious OL in the league.

Not sure Kolb is the ideal example to point to of Whisenhunt not knowing what a good QB is.

Valid point, Whisenhunt was definitely set back by QB in his last years with Arizona. I probably have a bias because I think Horton, his DC from that year, is as deserving of a shot at coaching as Whisenhunt.

And it will be hard to separate who had more to do with San Diego's offensive resurgence, Whisenhunt or McCoy. McCoy was the one that had shown experience creating a gameplan with a wide variety of quarterbacks. Not that I'd be mad at a Whisenhunt hire, but this OL can't handle the deep drops he was known for.

Didn't know that. If true then I wouldn't give him any say so in player personnel.

Whisenhunt looks the part but not sure he is "the one".

Whisenhunt gave Horton his first big gig. If you hire Whisenhunt, you throw the sink at Horton to lure him back to his old boss. Two for one, booyah.

lol, I was making the point that everyone is judging Whisenhunt based on the QBs he had in Arizona...whereas, I thought it is totally unfair to base it on that because he wasnt the one determining the player personnel for the Cardinals.
