Have you seen Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust? Same director, and to me just as good. And the animation and music are even better than Ninja Scroll.

Note: A Japanese dub exists, but the movie was originally done in English.

Hellsing was also a cool premise. It cuts sorry like the others. Nit sure how far the ovas have progressed. Haven't watched then because I've read the manga.

The OVAs are way better than the original series. And they actually follow the manga. The tenth and final episode aired about a year ago.

Kill La Kill and Koroko No Basket remain awesome. Still trying to get into Log Horizon but I'm kinda iffy on it.

Also, I LMAOed when Masashi Kishimoto recently announced the upcoming end to Naruto and it was greeted with celebration by his own fans. The war arc that has been ongoing the last 3 years and
    massively disappointing "Obito is Tobi"
reveal has practically killed all goodwill that manga had.

Just caught up on Golden Time.. still don't really like Kaga... I like the other female characters and I love all three (or four) of the male characters... but Kaga still gets on my freaking nerves.

Oh and I love the blond hair! ;)

OMG, I just have to say that little Busters is going to be one very special show. Season One was alright, but man, season 2 refrain just tugs the heart and give you the feels. Was tearing up episodes 8 & 9, but I haven't cried yet! It's already episode 10 and it's just getting real. I believe this show will be 3 seasons called "ecstasy" like the VN so S2 may end in a cliffhanger. Sorry I'm just ogling over this show right now.

Key makes such great tear jerkers
    1. Clannad
    2. Little Busters
    3. Angel Beats
    4. Kanon
    5. Air (haven't seen)

Recommend them all in this order.

So was it rin and riki in the bus? This episode gave me the impression it was kyosuke and he wanted to help rin and riki grow up in case a tragedy like that were to happen. Also, so riki's narcolepsy was actually kyosukes doing for whenever he messed up he would restart until he got it right?

Just watched time of eve. They're six short episodes, with a movie that combines all 6 only, about androids who overcome their programming and act like humans.

You can consider this artsy slice of life shine but I liked it.

No riki's narcolepsy was real when he was little before he met the little busters but I would imagine that was what Kyousuke used as the reset point each time... In the story of why Rin went to the school they said the bus crash only had two survivors so I think that they were all there and only rin and riki survived foreshadowing the "trials to come" for the two of them

So, did anyone else go see the Madoka movie?

Just....wow. Wow. My mind is still picking up the pieces.

As for Little Busters: I haven't watched the anime ( or rather, I dropped it after about 10 episodes of the 1st season because I thought it was a terrible adaption), but I did play the VN, so I can answer any questions if anyone is confused like always happens with Key's works.

I may take you up on that if I get confused... So far I'm doing okay with the storyline of little busters... I wish I could read the visual novel :)

The first two movies are just recaps of the series, whether you watch them or not is up to you - I didn't. But you definitely need to either watch the series or the first two movies before watching the third movie.

Cool, will be starting the series soon.

Watched akira Saturday, man that was some epic stuff. Plot was way different that what I had expected. Someone should explain what exactly happened after tetsuo couldn't control his power anymore at the stadium and transformed.

Caught up to outbreak company, that ish was hilarious.

Nagi no asukara is so pretty to look at.

I've probably said this before in this thread, but IMHO the Akira movie doesn't even give you all the tools you need to make sense of the story. If you really want to "get it," read the six-volume manga. Just to give you an idea of how truncated the movie is:

...in the manga, Tokyo is destroyed halfway through, and they find Akira ALIVE.
Also, two of my favorite characters from the manga don't really appear in the movie at all: Lady Miyako (my favorite character... she gets a very small cameo in the film), and Chiyoko, a tough, burly chick who at one points uses an armed cruise missile to melee some guy in the face. Hilarity all around.

Seriously, the manga is well worth your time. Start reading.

Outbreak Company is one I'm behind on... but I am really enjoying Nagi No Asukara - and yeah it's pretty, but I like the plot that seems to be developing. I don't know if it was based on anything or not, but it's been interesting :)

I feel like it would've been a lot better had they made it into a series. I love that the film was 3 hrs long, but it wasn't enough to put it all in. At times in the movie they would talk about akira as some powerful evil locked away, but when he finally manifested he looked like he was a good guy. Are the three kid who were worship akira's body parts evil or good? Honestly, his showing was really disappointing. I was hoping for him to be resurrected and battled with tetsuo or them joining forces and (the gang leader with the red bike) fights them.

Not sure what the main plot is yet (as of ep 5) besides the sisters boyfriend and manaka protecting herself and her friends. It's an interesting world nonetheless. Not sure if manaka will go land or sea. Right now she's leaning towards land boy, but I think sea boy and still woo her over unless he gives up on her and goes with purple haired girl. Keep forgetting names lol.

After I catch up Nagi do you recommend Galilee Donna, white album 2, non non biyori, or arpeggio of blue steel?

Yeah, a one-shot OVA series might have been the ticket. At the very least it should have been two movies, a part 1 and part 2. There's a a very neat split in the manga: Tokyo is destroyed right at the end of volume 3. So it would have been easy to do one film of vols 1-3, and another for vols 4-6. Also, I believe the existing film is only two hours, not three. With three hours they could have done a bit more.

As for evil/good... Akira isn't really evil or good, he's just a little kid (even younger than the others) for whom that distinction doesn't have much meaning. The three kids I'd say are depicted as protagonists rather than antogonists... they're certainly not evil (also, in the manga, Lady Miyako is their leader and is my favorite character, but as I said, she isn't even in the film other than a very small cameo). If there's a "bad guy" in the Akira manga, it's Tetsuo himself, who starts doing some pretty messed up stuff.
