your hole keeps getting bigger if you are referencing Parker as a facilitator. He's only average over 7 assists twice in his career. He's the definition of a shot first PG.

You don't need a top flight PG to play with Harden, u need a defense minded rebounding point guard. That is PBev.. This team has the perfect combination of players to be successful, we can't afford to lose Chandler.

Also, there is video on Probaskeball Talk where D12 is hanging out with Pbev at his Bday party. So I'm not sure it's Pbev.

Studogg on a roll. First he saves houston fans with his comcast petition and now he is patrolling the boards and cleaning up the dumb posts.

I get you. But when playing next to Harden and with the Rockets attempting to make Parsons a point forward _ they need a point guard who can do both (play on and off the ball). Tony Parker is a guy who can do both because he had to playing with Manu.

But who are you talking about facilitate to..??? This is not Boston with KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen where a point guard can run around and close his eyes and pass the ball and get an assist. I like Beverley but he's a backup. I like Brooks but Manu took his soul and his career. They'll have their moments but I wouldn't depend on them being a major piece (as in starter) for the long haul. I think Lin is the best of those three and Canaan has been heating up the D-League. But Lin can facilitate and put up 30 so I ain't complaining...

We need a PG who can play on both ends of the floor.

Well Bev doesn't really get much a chance to actually play the point guard position. All he really does is guard the opposing team's point guard.

I also don't see the big fuss over Lin's defense. Opposing point guards are getting 16/7 versus our "Darrelle Revis". Was Lin that much worse? I think he kind of leaves his man too much but I see that in Bev too.

We need Lin to lessen the load against Harden and Howard.

When Bev is on the floor, its 5 vs 4 on offense. The offense bogs down and people start calling Harden "lazy" because his ISO game takes a huge hit.

"Defensive" players like Asik and Beverley are fools gold and overvalued by many GM's. Morey knows this.

Lin plays "good enough" defense that he is still a net positive on the floor because of his playmaking abilities. "Defensive" players like Asik and Beverley are liabilities on offense. Anyone who follows Moreyball knows that its all about buying buckets.

Sell defense, buy offense. Fools gold "defensive" players like Asik and Beverley are great for this purpose.

Primary reason Asik scored some was because Lin kept on passing to Asik even when Asik couldn't catch simple passes or put back easy baskets. I have not seen one iota of indication that Asik would make a decent offensive player. Chicago's analysis on Asik was correct: good rebounder, non-existent offense and stone hands.

is that why he liked Ryan Bowen, Chuck Hayes, Omer Asik, Dwight Howard - I'm sure there are plenty of others I could add in - but your premise is flawed. This is like the DaDakota premise that you can teach an offensive player like Kevin Martin to play defense at an acceptable level.

One way players are what they are - limited on one side of the ball. Be it defense or offense.

To say that Morey doesn't target one way players is foolish though. When picking up fringe players or late rounders, he generally picks someone with a highly specialized skill set that will help them make a roster and an impact on the game.

see - Joey Dorsey - rebounding
    Chase Budinger - shooting
Steve Novak - three point shot

Patrick Beverly is the perfect fit for this team.

Unless we get a huge PG upgrade (Rondo), Beverly is locked in as the starter.

Aside from Howard (who does have offensive skill), all these players ended up traded. I don't see how this goes against my point. Did Morey really pick Bowen anyway? JVG had more influence on personnel at that time.

Morey adjusts his players to the coach and roster at hand. This roster as constructed needed a defensive player at the one and therefore he picked up Beverly. Lin wasn't cutting it so now Beverly is starting. Seems pretty simple to me.

And btw, the one dimensional's have a high flame-out rate. So yeah, several of them fell off and were subsequently traded. Moreover, if you are able to upgrade by sending them out, you do so. But at some point - given salary caps and limitations of available players, you have to accept what is available. Again - with this - Morey shoots for the one dimensional player with an exceptional skill. Generally regardless of offense or defense - primarily ranked on how well it could impact the roster.

Almost forgot. Canaan - his skill is shooting.

And he loved him some Bowen, we just lost out in the bidding to the Nuggets IIRC.
