Sacramento looks to be in win now mode. Asik for Thompson/1rd lottery pick top 3 protected? Sac would be a playoff team if they get Asik.
I said sullinger long ago and got laughed off the board. He's STILL a great fit (2-3 3pt tonight, 23 pts) He's the missing link. Always has been.
Also a James Harden favorite. After the recent HOU-BOS game, James was spotted at the visiting locker room's showers offering Sully money for his company.
Asik turned out to be a Royce White light in terms of pouting and sulking. Now that he hears his name in trade rumors, he is laughing.
Asik has a right to be happy and to play on his own terms. GMs of NBA teams, esp Morey, don't think twice about altering players lives and career with trades and cuts (see Lin Christmas Day 2011), So why do you demand that's players shown unfailing loyalty like Spartans to Sparta even at the expense of their potential and happiness? Huge double standard. Neither the Rockets or Omer have done anything wrong here. It's just business.
No problem with that. Then get a Center who likes being in Houston. Someone like Camby, Chuck Hayes, .........fill in the gaps
He seemed all happy when Dwight wasn't around. It shouldn't be just about loyalty but the wish to be playing on a contending team. I think he does not value that as much.
It's still early in his career. He's only had one year playing as a starting centre and he's done well. What if he thinks he can be as good or better than Dwight? What if he wants the chance to prove that? A chance he won't get here for the next two years. Players are much more likely to be happy to sacrifice their starting job/status etc. once they've already established and proven themselves. Look at Lin, for example. Even though he's 6th man for reasons of fit, according to other teams, fans, media, he was outplayed by Bev for the starting job. That's the impression that's out there of him. Even when it's been said by Rockets' fans and officials that that's not the case. (who knows, maybe it is and maybe it's just pr or whatever) But in Omer's case he's clearly the backup. You can't blame him for not wanting to settle for that.
You are right except that 'outplay' is the wrong word. Beverley did well but it was Lin who outplayed him in preseason and early season. They thought Beverley could sustain 30 minutes a game which he clearly can't and he is starting to shoot worse than Alston who was pretty solid from downtown. I don't blame Asik for wanting out but he could have done it in a more proper way after a season with Howard in the next off season.
