Not liking our options if this is true. We basically have 3 options. Young- He is good player but we already have a younger version of him with T.Jones. Milsap- again good player but do we really need more offense? We also become a undersized team. Ilyasova- Do not want him at all, he can shoot the 3 ball, but do we already have great shooters. He would bring nothing to this team. I rather have Larry Sanders he is physical and he plays DEFENSE! Which is what we desperately need. Dwight/Sanders frontcourt defense, with our shooters. If these are our options I rather keep Asik longer.
turner can't shoot and is in a contract year. extending him isn't best since we should save cap space for 2015. young is a similar issue when it comes to our cap space but at least he fits as a stretch 4 and as a great wing defender. he could play 30mpg behind jones and parsons whereas turner wouldn't get more than 24mpg behind harden and parsons at the 2/3. young is probably the best overall player we could get for asik, but if they don't want to part with him (or if morey would rather the pick instead of young's contract eating into our 2015 cap space) we could trade asik for richardson and the hornets pick.
GUYS, MOREY IS NOT GOING TO GET TWO #1'S FOR ASIK BUT THE BEST ALTERNATIVE IS AN ABOVE AVERAGE PLAYER AND A 2014 #1 DRAFT PICK. EVAN TURNER AND N.O'S 2014 #1 IS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE. I don't think Morey wants to add players, he thinks we are good as constructed but I think another score will enhance the roster, especially one who is a playmaker and can get to the rack!
With T. Jones on the roster, I don't think he is after Young. Young is small and he will make our 2nd unit even smaller than it is. Evan Turner makes more sense. He will add size to the back court, a defender off the bench, plus he's a playmaker and able to get to the basket.
Since when are those players not tradable? Besides, only those who use drugs know which ones are expense or cheap. I think you are giving yourself away.
I don't understand why we haven't talked to NY about Shumpert/Hardaway Jr. for Asik. Both are good young players with lots of potential.
What's going on with lee in Boston he hasn't been getting much playing time, dude has played only 10mins and it's 4th quarter... interesting
if it was pre injurey amare, it would be a no brainer. a power foreword who avarage, 21.3 points per game + 8.6 rebounds carrer stats, would make this team an instant top 3 contender for the title. unfortunately he isn't the same player anymore, and won't avarage those numbers again. prime amare was amazing. if Houston would grab him,( not for asik) but for scrubs, and take his expiring contract and he will be half the player he was,( one of my all time favourites) than it would be amazing.
No GM in the entire league is taking Amare with that terrible contract, and Morey sure as hell won't either. Amare's 20-10 days are long gone.
Gerald Wallace also wants out of Boston...could be a stretch 4. He can cut hard to the basket, shoot and post up. I wonder what Morey will do. I'm hoping for a veteran player and not another draft pick. We should continue to make moves in the "win now" philosophy.
It will be Turner and the PF Moultare or however you spell his name. Philly is going to let him walk and he provides us with insurance for Harden. Turner is the best we get and it would be a great add!
I don't believe the reports about going for Thaddeus young. Morey would not like his contract, and young isn't gonna opt out of 9.7 mil in his last year. I still wish we could keep asik but if he is traded I want players that have been in playoff wars. I want us to contend this year and it's still early, but I don't like our chances against a lot of these teams in the west in a playoff series. I think Dallas' team is super underrated and last nights game reminded me how dangerous they will be in the playoffs. Marion and carter and monta have got that experience and when it comes to playoffs dirk is top 5. Currently, I don't like Houston's chances in the playoffs against spurs okc clippers Dallas or lakers.
