It could depend on the matchup. If Auburn goes to the Sugar Bowl, it might be intriguing to have an Auburn-Oregon 2010 BCS Championship rematch. I do think Baylor is 100% more deserving than Oregon though. Oregon has looked completely average down the stretch. Baylor hasn't looked great, but 1 loss is 1 loss. Better than Oregon.
Well, we got what we wanted from the OKLA/OKST game. Now we can win the Big 12 outright, & close out The Case in the same day.
What happened to you guys? I was all pumped to see you on national tv play OSU. What a disappointment. Tuned in again today. How did you guys ever score 55 points a game? This is for the Big 12 Title; hopefully, somebody wakes up in the second half.
Congrats, BU. Nice way to close out the stadium; g'luck in the Fiesta Bowl. Would have been hard pressed to believe that a senior class could beat Texas 3 out of 4 years. Not so hard when you look at the Baylor QBs versus the Longhorn ones....
Most of the bowl projections have Baylor playing ... UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. What a crappy outcome if that's the case. Oregon seems like a perfect fit there.
The Fiesta Bowl unfortunately gets the last pick of available teams, so unless someone else really wants UCF (yeah, right), they're gonna be the last team standing.
Makes sense. So basically, OU screwed Baylor. If OSU had won, Baylor would have split the conference title and gotten to play in the Sugar Bowl vs Alabama.
It's a real shame that there's no non-AQ in the BCS this year, because I would've loved to see UCF in the Orange Bowl. But there's no way the Orange Bowl can turn down a blue chip program like Alabama or Ohio State for UCF, even if UCF would totally take over Miami. UCF has a fantastic defense and one of the best RB tandems in the nation. It will be an interesting matchup from a football strategy perspective, but a really crappy one for the media/sex appeal. Baylor better not take them lightly.
Also just a no-win situation for Baylor. Win and it's what they should have done. Lose and everyone will laugh. I'm so happy this system dies next year. The current projections are: Baylor vs. UCF in Fiesta OU vs. Alabama in the Sugar Meanwhile, OU vs UCF and Baylor vs Alabama would be two really good matchups, but the system just isn't designed to create good matchups. Yet again, Alabama gets to play a crappy offense in their bowl game.
Yeah, I hadn't thought that all the way through when I was rooting for OU yesterday. My casual allegiance absolutely made the difference in that game. If next year was this year, what would the playoff matchups be?
Good question. #1 FSU vs #4?? #2 Auburn vs #3 Alabama. I don't know who the 4th team would be. Seems like it would have to Baylor or Michigan State? Odd since they were ranked #9 and #10 going into this weekend. Stanford might get consideration being ranked higher than both those, but they have 2 losses which seems like it should eliminate them. Might be just as controversial as the BCS.
Haven't paid much attention to the playoff machinations. Are the top 4 determined by a BCS-style formula? And yeah, I can't figure out who the 4th team should be. That Bama-Auburn rematch on a neutral field would be slightly intense.
Man I feel for Baylor. Oklahoma State choking really screwed y'all out of a fun matchup with (most likely) Alabama. Obviously playing in the Fiesta Bowl is still great and UCF shouldn't be taken lightly, but it's just less fun/exciting. Congrats on a damn good season though to y'all.
Feel bad for us? Seriously? We're Baylor and we're playing in a freaking BCS game!!! I'm elated! So far exceeded any expectation I had it's silly. I don't care if they play the game in Madisonville!
"Feel for y'all" was the wrong word choice haha. Just meant y'all earned and deserved a shot at something bigger than UCF. Would love to see y'alls offense vs. Alabama.
