If Morey is talking to Boston _ he may be trying to shake Kelly Olynyk for them for Asik.

    Asik/Lin/Dmo/1rd for Rondo/Olynyk/Lee

My goodness if Motet pulled that off he would be a king!

I think a trade with Charlotte has legs for both teams
With Asik Charlotte can make the playoff in the easy east
And morey will take Biyombo as backup C

Asik for Biyombo and Detroit 1st (Charlotte owns it) is a nice scenario (and houston get some cap relief

I really like Olynyk .... I just cant seem to justify Boston moving him in most scenario's that would interest the Rockets.

Rondo & Olynyk for Asik & DMo. Asik is a win now move , makes no sense to move Rondo if you bring him in.

Wallace and Olynyk for Asik. Morey isn't going to take back a three year deal killing cap flexibility for free agency. They couldn't even sweeten the pot with a draft pick good enough to get it done.

Brandon Bass + Olynyk for Asik + filler. With Jones playing so well , what value does Bass bring on a two year deal that would require future moves to clear his salary for free agency. Then again with one year on his deal Bass could be used in S&T scenario's to bring in talent.

Humphries & Olynyk for Asik (+??). Humphries probably wouldn't crack the Rockets rotation , just not enough compensation for Houston , might add a pick and get it done. May be the most satisfying option for both teams ... Boston gets their defensive anchor and the Rockets get a draft pick and young talent with potential.

Right. You can substitute a rookie player forthe first round pick. The return package would consist of a) expiring contract and b) first round pick or a promising rookie. Maybe Houston includes either Donatas Motiejunas (not good enough to play for a contender so he needs to get flipped) or Ronnie Brewer (filler).

I think Houston trades Asik for one of the following packages on12/19 (12 days from now):

    1) Robin Lopez (expiring contract) and Portland's 2016 first round pick (probably protected)

    2) Kris Humphries (expiring contract) or Keith Bogans (expiring contract) and a 2014 first round pick (I believe Boston has their own pick as well as Brooklyn's pick)

Or maybe to somebody else but it would be for the exact same type of package.

And, again, look for Daryl Morey to later (on 2/20) trade this expiring contract with some other stuff for a very good veteran player such as Luol Deng. Way more players are going to be available at that time.

The more I think about it , the more I like the idea of moving Asik + to Boston for a package of Humphries , Olynyk and one of their two first round picks in the coming draft.

Humphries gives you a big contract to mix and match with if needed at the deadline that otherwise expires at the end of the season allowing you to move somewhat freely in FA.

Olynyk gives you a young replacement for Asik and also has a versatile offensive game with lots of room for growth.

The pick would probably be just outside the lottery as I think Asik , Rondo , Green & C.Lee likely win that division (they are leading it now at 9-12. Man is the East ever bad).

One other scenario I wouldn't mind is a package from Philly including Spencer Hawes.

No... Morey CAN'T trade Asik to Portland (or New Orleans). No way he can put Asik on a western conference team and give him LMA (or Davis) to come back and hunt us with. Do you see what Portland is doing now that they have Lopez and LMA doesn't have to play center _ and you want to give them Asik... Bad move...

Olynyk would be the prize and may can get one of Brooklyn's first round picks that Boston has since Atlanta can swap it anyway. The TT would work with Olynyk because he can shoot from anywhere on the court. And he can backup both Howard and TJ. Olajuwon and McHale would have a field day working with that kid.

Asik and D-Mo for Humphries and Olynyk and Brooklyn's 1st round pick. Humphries would be very useful for this team for the rest of the year going into the playoffs... Solid dirty work veteran player. Good to have for when young guys like TJ, Olynyk, and Smith space out.

How about making a run at Danny Granger, anyone with a plausible scenario where we can come away with him? I know the Pacers have no need for Asik. So a 3 team trade is the way to go. I like his game I think he would be a good fit here.

Danny Granger hasn't played basketball the last 2 years. He will never be the same player he once was.

Spencer Hawes is averaging 16 and 10. I don't think he is easy to get.
Asik at his best was 10 and 11.

The "Never trade to a team in your own division/conference" thing is a myth. Teams do this on a regular basis. Besides, Portland won't keep this up. They likely wind up at around #6 or #7 in the West.

Of course, Portland is probably buying its own hype and doesn't see the need to upgrade from Robin Lopez to Omer Asik, so I guess it doesn't matter..
