then Asik is gonnab itch about playing time in Denver also. Him having a starting gig over there is not a lock either with Javale.

Mozgov and Randolph combined don't come close to Asik's value. The back of the 1st round draft pick would help but there is absolutely no way in hell I include two 2nd round picks to them in that deal.

Haha. Now you got people throwing in Kyrie trades???
How do you figure we can land another teams franchise player without giving up one of our top two. Morey ain't that good.
Look, the best player we can possibly get skill wise is gonna be on a millsap type level. And even that is gonna be a little difficult. Asik won't get us that straight up.

I've been thinking more along the lines of 'tard McGee and the Knicks pick for Asik. Do you think Denver would do that?

My thoughts are if morey wants a lottery pick then Asik is gonna get traded to the west. Their needs to be 7 teams who miss out on the playoffs in the west and I reckon morey is gonna gamble that a team who has expectations on making the playoffs with the Asik trade actually sucks it up. Or the easier way for a lotto pick would be just to trade for a future pick and avoid this monster draft.

If I am Morey, I do not trade him to the West. Especially to a contender. I would trade him to the East, and I would trade him for picks. We don't need a 4 because of Tjones, unless you get an all star, which I dont see. So i would be happy with a first and a player like Korver to come off the bench.
Asik + Garcia for Korver and 1st rounder.

Fair enough. I only included the two picks just to make it more enticing for Denver to part ways with their first round pick this year. It's gotta work both ways and I think Denver and Houston could live with that trade, plus it saves a couple millions for next season too. I'd part with 2 2nd rounders in future drafts if it means we have a shot at a lottery pick this year. Thing is any kind of trade regarding this year draft is going include protections, which doesn't help our chances.

It looks like our team plays well when we have movement. Why not trade for Ryan Anderson and one of the pelicans pick, Would they bite?

Have you seen his numbers lately? You couldn't even get him for Asik straight up. We would have to throw in picks.

Because the Pelicans gave their pick to Morey's protege over in Philly.

I really don't think the 4 is the problem. It's a wing defender and a back up center that's more of an issue.

that's true. but we can't do much about that when chandler and harden play 36mpg each. the issue is THEY need to be the wing defenders. bringing in a great wing defender for 24MPG backing up both of them wouldn't do much.

i'd like to say that ray allen and dirk were never any better defenders than harden and parsons but they won championships on teams with amazing defense. how? the teams were coached to play TEAM defense and cover up for those guys. its hard to cover up for 2 guys but the right coach could get at least chandler on board with focusing on defense and get the rest of the team to play team defense and help james the way boston did with ray.

the first thing is to get him used to just staying infront of his man and forcing a tough shot instead of going for the steal which turns into a fast break less often than it turns into an easy shot for the opponent.

You're misunderstanding. My comment had nothing to do with the upside and fit of Jones. It was a response to the assumption that Jones is better than Millsap based on one half of basketball.

Jones emergence has really made things interesting. Him, Asik, and Lin are a strong enough package for serious discussions for a disgruntled star like Melo or a rebuilding team for Rondo. The Grizzlies could offer up Randolph for example and Jones makes a lot of sense as a replacement.

So what does Morey do? Does he go for depth and just trade Asik for Milsap? Or does he swing for the fences and offer up all his depth for a third star?

Don't underestimate what a young cheap big like Jones can net you in a trade. If Morey can pry away a lotto pick for Asik, that pick plus Jones and maybe Lin could get you Rondo or Melo.

Denver gave one of their picks to Orlando, which I think is the better of their own and NYK.

In addition to that, McGee is injured right now and no one knows when he's coming back from that.

If we are going to take on McGee's $10m+ contract, we need not only one pick but maybe two. McGee's contract is something Morey would avoid imo.

We're not gonna go into the playoffs with dmo or Greg smith or Camby as our third best big man. We have to get someone decent in the front court for asik. Tjones is still young and inexperienced and morey would probably want a three man rotation

No... Because Morey would be foolish to send Asik to a division team and pair him up with Davis...

Morey may want a lottery pick for Asik _ but he may not necessarily mean a lottery pick in next year's draft. He could mean a lottery pick out of last year's draft.
