Advanced stats hate Avery Bradley. If he played for a non-marquee team, no one would know who he is. Houston has zero interest in this scrub. And advanced stats are pretty meh on Jeff Green. And Green's contract sucks.

I do think Boston is one of the teams interested in Omer Asik but Boston and Houston are surely discussing either Kris Humphries (expiring contract) or Keith Bogans (expiring contract) plus a first round pick. Houston is obviously trying to drum up the best draft pick haul possible. Whoever has the best draft pick(s?) offer on the table (pick or picks + expiring contract(s)) on 12/19 gets Asik.

You think Green's contract sucks (8.7million)
    but Humphry makes 12 million

Green is their best offensive option.

Jeff Green, I understand. But Avery Bradley? Why would we want him when Patrick Beverley is our Avery Bradley!

C'mon, man, Humphries' contract expires at the end of the season. Green's contract goes on for a few more years.

The idea here is that Houston would be able to package Humphries' or Bogans' expiring contract with some other good stuff for somebody really good at the trade deadline, if somebody good becomes available. When you have the sorts of assets that teams want, and a really good player (like James Harden, last October) becomes available, then you have a good shot at getting that player. Daryl Morey is trying to put himself in a position to get such a player.

how good of a player are we talking about?
Because the team just needs consistency and solid production on the defensive end
Stardom is not necessarily no. 1 priority any longer

We were targeting Millsap and Josh Smith who are not really allstars in the offseason.

There is the old buy out option or the new 'Amnesty' clause that can get rid of bigger contracts if we decide that the services of Jeff Green are probably not needed.
    No worries.

Somebody better than Asik. Morey is an opportunist. He doesn't necessarily have anybody in particular in mind. He'd love to get Lebron but obviously Lebron isn't getting traded. I think he'd love for Kevin Love to become available. Maybe the most realistic option (on Feb 20, that is) is Luol Deng, who would be a terrific fit.

what are the chances we stick with the team we have? it appears as long as parsons is healthy we're ok. chemistry is important we bring in the wrong person and it gets all screwed up.

100% chance Omer Asik is traded by Dec 19. For a variety of reasons. Reasonable chance that Donatas Motiejunas is included in the deal, as he is nothing special, and takes up cap space next summer. Reasonable chance that Jeremy Lin is traded, too, either on 12/19 (for the same sort of package Houston will get for Asik, i.e., a pick and an expiring contract) or on Feb 20.

I think you can remember what Morey did last time they had two stars.
He made smaller moves..... rented Artest......got players like Von Wafer
He replaced McGrady with Martin and so on....

Picks and expirings for Asik and Lin, that would be a shame. This team is a contender and should be looking to contend, not sit around and hope for pies in the sky.
The Green and Bradley trade would be great for this team. Depth, defensive energy. Of course, the Celtics probably wouldn't do that for Asik, but it's the type of move the Rockets should be looking for.

    Houston trades Asik, Smith
    For
Biyombo, Teletovic, and second round pick from charlotte

    Charlotte trades Biyombo, Sessions, Adrien
For Asik, Smith, Taylor and cash from Hou

    Brooklyn trades Teletovic and Taylor
    For
    Ramon Sessions, Adrien

Morey gets everything he wants. Biyombo is a previous target for Daryl and is a backup center that has defensive upside. Teletovic is a stretch 4 with three point range. Also we basically buy a second round pick with cash to help pay for asik's next year. When morey demands first rounders, i think he would consider guys with first round talent as equivalents and this fits the bill.

Bobcats/hornets get a win now presence to pair with Al jefferson and would make a strong playoff push without affecting their core.

Nets get a productive backup pg to fill in for Williams when he is injured or needs to spell his minutes.

    Thoughts?
