What's Afflalos situation in Orlando. I know he has two years left but would Orlando dump him for a first rounder, a guy like Canaan, Dmo and a bunch of more 1 year expirings to make the numbers work? It would be near impossible I guess cuz they wouldn't have enough roster spots to take on brewer and casspi. But if we can somehow land millsap from asik, I'd love to go into the second half of the season with a 9 man rotation of: Guards: bev Lin harden and Afflalo Sf: parsons and Garcia Big man: Dwight tjones and millsap Greg smith and another center and sf to round out the roster. I'd rather keep caspi over Garcia if wed have Afflalo but Omri is 1 year and Garcia has a option for 2
No, Anderson was not part of that team. I am warming up to the idea of trading for Anderson despite his last two games. He can space the floor and know down the 3 among st the best stretch 4s in the league. He has a nose for grabbing rebounds on the weak side and getting tip-ins which is something every team could use. The Hornets are stupid for not jumping on a trade of Asik + Jones for Anderson. I am sure Morey would counter and try to keep Jones. I really think this trade would guarantee them a playoff spot barring injuries. They need a guy who will fight for their team night in and night out, someone who will hustle to grab every rebound and help on defense. Asik + Davis would lock down the paint better than any team in the league. It's too bad our first game against them is scheduled after the 19th on the 28th, then one in January and then the last 2/3 games of the season. If we beat them down and showcased Asik earlier in the season (especially before Anderson returned) then they would be more open to trading Anderson.
Granted, it's only 18 games this year where he's made the big leap, but Afflalo is posting a 21.4 PER, a 61.7% true shooting %, 23 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, 46% from 3, solid FT shooter, 1 steal a game, not a ridiculous amount of turnovers... ... basically, the Magic aren't trading him at least until the trade deadline, by which point he might have validated his hot start by continuing it and frankly the Magic either keep him or flip him for something more than a crappy pick and Canaan, DMo and expirings. It's crazy you'd even suggest it.
Crazy I would suggest it. When I more asked about him. Though you right, dmo has little value and I have no idea how Canaan would look on the court right now. I asked more with the idea of players that probably aren't on the same page as the teams plans. I think Afflalo would want to win now and Orlando are more about getting another lottery pick. What about Evan turner? Maybe Sam Hinkie was crazy about DMo
The Hornets not wanting to trade Anderson, I'm sure, has less to do with the players involved and more to do with them not wanting to trade him to a division rival who they still have to play 4 times this season. Trade machine is fail sometimes: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k6p492z
I just want Denver's first round pick and a backup center. Now that I think about it, no way they give us Chandler. Completely forgot Gallinari is still injured, which means they're pretty thin at the SF spot. I'm still unsure if I'd even want Randolph, but I'd would take a gamble on a package of Randolph, Mozgov, and Denver's 2014 first rounder for Asik, if that means we're getting into this draft. Denver can look like this: Lawson/Miller/Robinson Foye/Fournier Chandler/Hamilton/Miller Hickson/Faried/Arthur Asik/McGee They get quality depth in their front court, and Hickson can slide back to his normal position. The front court would look pretty solid defensively too. I still think the West is too stacked for Denver to take one of the 8 spots in the playoffs so they might be getting a lottery pick. Rockets look like this: Beverley/Lin/Brooks Harden/Garcia/Brewer Parsons/Cassipi/Randolph Jones/Motiejunas Howard/Mozgov/Smith We get a quality center for half the price of Asik and is comfortable with a back up role. Randolph can provide depth and his length can make him a very versatile defender for the 3 and 4 spot. With Randolph, there's more options available to exploit weaknesses, etc.
And for a lot of these eastern conference teams, don't be fooled by their wins and the team saying all the right things to the media. The GMs most definitely are hoping to lose many games with youngsters and get a crack at this years lottery, just no one predicted there would be that many god awful teams in the east. Orlando Boston Philadelphia all want to miss the playoffs. They like their rookies this year and would love to pair them with a Jabari Parker or wiggins. Can you imagine how happy Philly would have been with wiggins mcw and Noel. Orlando with oladipo and vucevic and randle.
What a hater. He doesn't realize how difficult it is to land a 7 footer who will consistently get you double-doubles every night? I remember the days when the Rockets were stuck with Hayes, Andersen, Dalembert, and Hill at center. Hayes played with hustle and grit, but he is still 6'6". Andersen sucked, Dalembert had no motor and went into hibernation for half a season, and Hill is undersized, has no motor and is inconsistent. To say the Rockets would not have traded 2 firsts for Asik is crazy when they traded 1 for Terrence Williams. IIRC they wanted to trade Lee (a young player) and a first for Asik before his breakout season. Only 3 centers are averaging a double double this season in the NBA: Vucevic, Cousins, and Drummond
Jones tore him apart in the last game. Jones is younger, far more athletic with a much bigger upside and a lot cheaper. I would want the Rockets t target a wing defender and a backup C.
Make it 4. Omer had the highest rebounding rate amongst players who played 30 minutes or more last season, and the second highest rebounding rate in the league.
Come on, Spencer Hawes 16.2 and 9.9 Pau Gasol (hate to say that) 14.3 and 9.9 boards are about the same make it 6
Spencer Hawes is playing 3.3 minutes more than Asik last season and I doubt he will finish the season with 10 rebounds or more. Pau Gasol has only done it 3/12 times in his career. It's safe to assume he won't do it again at 33. Plus he is getting paid $20 million. I think this says more than anything: Omer had the highest rebounding rate amongst players who played 30 minutes or more last season, and the second highest rebounding rate in the league. He is the second best rebounder in the game after Dwight.
I am not advocating for both being better and more effective rebounders. Both Hawes and Gasol are comparable or slightly worse rebounder but much better on the offensive end. Asik is a no show on Offense especially on a defensive team that is not the Rockets. Hawes and Gasol might not get to 10 but 9 rebounds per game isn't that far away and given their production on Offense are better assets on the market. That one counts.
Sorry, but for whatever reason, Tjones only played 24 minutes that game, mostly in the first half. Millsap did most of his damage against...I think it was Casspi.
