What a crappy year to have the #1 pick. This has echoes of Alex Smith and Sam Bradford written all over it. Bridgewater just doesn't look worthy of the #1 overall pick, and Clowney could end up being the JaMarcus Russell of defensive ends. I'd probably try and find someone who loves one of those guys, work a trade with them, get yourself a handful of early picks, and go get yourself a RT, an MLB, and a QB in the first 3 rounds.

I hate players with poor work ethic. Clowney is the anti-Watt...

AS much as I love Matthews, and I was leaning that way at first. Drafting a Right Tackle with the 1st pick is horrible in terms of value

I don't think Watt would let Clowney slack off. You'll notice that no one on the line has a poor work ethic (their problem is talent).

Clowney & Watt could be a monster duo. We can draft a QB later in the round.

Keep Antonio, Merci and Watt. Add Clowney.

Draft best available tackle second round.

Would absolutely love if the Texans did what the Falcons did and trade their whole draft for a high 1st rounder while maintaining their first and grabbed a Barr, or Mosley.

Doesn't matter. It's good for building family values local continuity community. It's gonna get done because Uncle Bob works that way.

Junior DE Jadeveon Clowney has "worn out his welcome" at South Carolina, according to Dan Pompei.
"It has been well documented that Clowney plays and practices only when he feels like it," Pompei writes. "Other red flags with Clowney, according to multiple front-office men, are his unusual family situation, his entourage, his inconsistent work ethic and the fact that he has worn out his welcome at South Carolina. Some suspect he is motivated strictly by money, and a big payday could leave him too satisfied." These are strong words, and we will likely hear a lot more about the monstrous defensive end throughout the draft process. This, however, is the first instance of Clowney's family and entourage being questioned.

Wow I didn't really the idea of taking him to pair with Watt but I was ok with it since he's a once in a generation type of guy but now I don't want him anymore.

The ACL injuries to LSU's Zach Mettenberger and Georgia's Aaron Murray, and Marcus Mariota's decision to return to Oregon for his redshirt junior season, bring into focus the fact that teams looking for quarterbacks this offseason might struggle to find slam-dunk solutions.

In addition, teams are wary of repeating the mistake a number of clubs made in the 2011 draft: reaching for a QB. That year, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder were among the top 15 overall picks. Also in the top 15: Von Miller, Marcell Dareus, A.J. Green, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, Aldon Smith, Tyron Smith, J.J. Watt, Nick Fairley, Robert Quinn and Mike Pouncey.

This year's quarterback group promises to have fantastic depth, but no super blue-chip, Andrew Luck-type prospect. And as turned out to be the case two years ago, the expectation is that the top 20 to 25 picks will be positively loaded at other positions. Evaluators have seen this coming for a while. It's why clubs tried to trade out of last year's draft -- you can see it in this year's so-so rookie class -- and into 2014.

So teams with a high pick and a need at quarterback will have big decisions to make.

Will Cleveland tread water and see what it has in Brian Hoyer? Will Oakland try and Scotch-tape things together for 2014 with Matt McGloin and Terrelle Pryor? Will Tampa Bay give Mike Glennon another year?

Those fascinating, high-impact decisions are on tap for early next year.

Clowney only cares about money? My god...how dare he besmirch the NCAA/SEC with such tawdry pursuits.

Clowney seems like one smart cookie, SC has nothing to offer him except the chance to get hurt without compensation.

wonder why all this smear is coming out about Clowney now??? Secondly...the NFL should be seriously scared if Clowney is paired with JJ...

Seems like the smoke being blown up is just what it is...

BRETT HUNDLEY!!! Dude is massively underrated and might actually be the most complete qb prospect with the prototypical pro qb size. Texans should trade the first pick for more picks, take Hundley around 5-10, and get offensive line help. Clowney's motivation issues scare me

It should effect his draft status though. How will he play after he gets a huge signing bonus? How will he play when his team's doing poorly? I'm thinking he'll have a Randy Moss career. He'll be one of the greats but will jump around team to team.

Is Hundley even leaving school? Been hearing he'll stay.
