Was Rick Smith calling plays or running the offense and defense?

Four years too late, and took a Titanic-like season for it to happen.

    Great guy. Bad head coach.

    Salary cap hell
We have missed on enough draft picks that we had to go out and throw crazy money at guys like joseph, manniing, wade smith.

he gave matt schaub 90 million

he cut a guy that has 6 sacks for the patriots

I thought it was the other way around, where Kubes brought in Smith. I might be wrong though.

    Actually, he didn't.

    Kubiak hired Rick Smith.

Even more reason why this organization shouldn't entrust its "rebuilding/reloading" to somebody who isn't even qualified to have this job, or be in the position to fire its coach.

That might be true for Cowher, but Gruden still lives the life of a HC, working long hours and constantly reviewing game film. If there were ever a coach to still retain the fire after being away for 5 years, it would be him.

We should hire him right after he does his QB camp thing lol

But I couldn't be mad at either Cowher or Grudan, I'm not sure how realistic it is though.

The Texans were regarded as a very good unit talent wise before the season. That's credit to the GM. It's not the GM's fault the HC's plays are too predictable and our starting QB should've been benched 6 games ago.

Mcnair made the right decision by keeping Rick. Gary is an idiot:(

Very surprised. I figured they would just let him run his course and then he'd "step down" at the end of the season claiming health concerns. I do think he's a solid coach but it's time for new blood after this disaster of a season, which isn't all his fault.

I'd be ok with letting Rick go to but it may be too tall a task for BOb to have to hire a new coach and a GM at the same time.

OC perhaps, but who would want him as a head coach? Every other coach in the league is going to have a better record than he did this year, and to make it worse it wasn't because he inherited a bad team , he inherited a team expected to contend for a super bowl.
